Its incredible to me that Austin is not showing Texans games. I remember growing up there in the 90's and sure enough the Oilers were the local team it seemed. I recall there was a conflict between the Oilers and Cowboys one week, and Houston got the nod on TV from a fan poll in the paper. Then again I'm not sure how much momentum Vince mania has retained in his hometown. Anyone remember his shout-out after the Rose Bowl - OWSTIN TEX-AS BAABY!
All they care about are the ratings. They didn't get the ratings from the Texans sucking last year, so they felt Vince's popularity in UT country would be better. If the Texans continue to play well, they will get on that bandwagon and start showing the Texans again.
Plenty of room. Plenty of room. Except for a few, I'm not letting them get on. I just want to say it makes the winning all that much sweeter because there have been haters and doubters along the way. Kinda like when the Rockets being down 3 games to 1. People laughed at the Texans. People couldn't get with the Texans. For the people who stuck with the Texans through the thick and the thin, mostly thin, the feeling of winning should be sweet. Just because the Texans didn't get the guy that wanted to cheer for, people abandoned their Texans fandom (if they even had one in the first place). It still worked out for the Texans. It feels real good.
I was a fan when the Rockets were down 0-2 in Phoenix, when the label was CHOKE CITY. I guess you weren't on that wagon then.
I don't see it that way. The team still has some problems with depth and talent in the secondary. While I can now see them winning 10 games, they still could drop two or three below that figure and I would still like the direction they are going in. I feel a lot of confidence in the coach, GM and QB. I have literally never rooted for a pro football team in Houston that had all bases covered like that!
Indy -- L Atlanta Miami Jacksonville Tennessee --L San Diego --L Oakland New Orleans - Maybe Cleveland -- Probably Win Tennessee Tampa -- Maybe Denver -- Maybe Indy -- L Jacksonville I see a Sweep of Jacksonville. . . split with the titans Swept by Indie. . I still say 10-6 Rocket River
Ive been a die-hard fan since the inception of the team. Greatful that we were lucky enough to land a team so quickly, impressed with the wonderful facilities and Bob McNair's poised ownership approach. The past 2 seasons have been painful to watch. I was pissed when we passed on Reggie Bush.... I was pissed when I had to watch a season of Mario Williams do nothing.... but I still watched every game - knowing that something good was going to happen soon. Rick Smith, Kubes & Co. have slowly built a winning attitude here in Houston, and I don't see that going away very soon. Matt Schaub is looking like he has done this for years.... Reliant is going to be ROCKING this Sunday.
I don't know....I'm not sure about this backup QB we have. I mean...how can you give a backup QB that kind of money??? And give up those second rounders for him???
The Texans are winning (Carr being gone the foremost reason why), and because they are winning it's going to make alot of people overlook the Mario Williams bungle. This team would still be better had they drafted VY or Bush. Don't let the team winning blind you to the fact that the Texans still screwed up royally. How did Mario do yesterday? Guess if he strings together a few more 1 tackle games he can always fall back on the plantar fasciatis excuse again.
Houston is currently 5th defensively against the run allowing only 69 ypg in their 2nd season in a 4-3. Houston is 18th at 212 ypg passing defensively, but jump to 10th in yards per attempt. If someone could cover/tackle Smith, the passing numbers would have been much better.
Yes, lets judge a DE's impact by numbers. Last year: Dwight Freeney: 29 tackles and 5.5 sacks. Mario Williams: 47 tackles and 4.5 sacks. This year: Dwight Freeney: 4 tackles, 0 sacks. Julius Peppers: 6 tackles, 0 sacks. Mario Williams: 6 tackles, 2 sacks, FR, PD, and a TD. So, yes, lets talk about the fact that he only had 1 tackle and completely ignore how he actually played.
Reggie Bush would be the 4th receiver behind Walter and Jones, and third RB ahead of only Gado on the Texans. The Texans corrected the Carr/VY mistake this offseason. Get on the bandwagon. It's going to be a fun ride.
Wow, so you think Mario had no impact last game? Did you even watch the game? My guess is not. Sounds like you just looked at the box score. Williams was hurrying Delhomme like no other. He was drawing double-teams and making Delhomme feel pressured. You know, his job, to pressure the QB. He succeeded.
With the resigning of Carr and the Mario/Bush/Vince situtation, the dividing line was drawn by about Week 9 last year. I would say anyone after that is totally disallowed. Only go with the fans who stuck with Texans all the way through and seasons back, and dont allow anyone in for the next 3 years. Just to keep out the many hecklers and the told-you-so'ers and the ridiculers it'd be worth it. But there's always limited time open membership to let in a few
