My girlfriend's father works over seas for one of the local oil companies here in town and complains about the TV that is available over there. I was just wondering if anyone would know if Sling Box would be a viable option or is there a better product out there.
Yep- slingbox is awesome. Get the pro- it comes built in with an analog tuner. If he wants to watch anything else like digital channels, he's going to be stuck watching what you watch unless you get a dedicated tuner box for him to control via the slingbox.
From my experience the Sling Box has to be disconnected/reset every couple of months. It is something to keep in mind if there will be no one to maintain the Sling Box.
Slingbox is ok. But whoever's internet the slingbox is connected to become really slow. Especially with comcast's ridiculously small amount of upload speed, it can cause some problems.
agreed. my brother's in china and we have a slingbox so he can watch local stuff and rox games on his pc. the times where im not watching but im on xbox live...man, its brutal how bad the lag gets.

I have the Hava, it is wireless.... I watched the Rockets vs Spurs game in Vegas on my laptop....quality is not great but not bad either....certainly watchable. DD
