    You really value creativity and variety in music... but, you're referencing Kanye as an example and other hip hop artists...?

    Hip-hop isn't a vary diversely varied genre... It's a traditionalist medium of music with an inflexible cultural core of rhyme and flow... The "variety" it allows, and that you're probably perceiving as variety... is in it's vast sampling of other people's music and it's referencing of other genres in it's currently ornate over-production...

    It's the kind of thing a pretension "artist" like Kanye's fame and wealth feeds off on... mainstream audience's gullibility... He has commercial depth as a producer, so in that regard he does have talent... but, he has no actal musicianship... He doesn't even grasp the importance of emotional girth and content in the musical creative process... let alone execute any innovation or profoundly unique offering with it...

    In essence, a hip hop artist, or a "rapper"... is in it's purest form... a poet... And mister Kanye West is a very poor excuse of one...
