The Suggs Squad may appreciate this. Couple of CBS sports writers both have Suggs going at #2 in their mocks. Gary Parrish piece "The Rockets have had and lost stars like James Harden, Russell Westbrook and Chris Paul in recent years — so the franchise is in desperate need of another one. And though I do think there are arguments to be made for Evan Mobley and Jalen Green, the pick should be Jalen Suggs, a great competitor and top-shelf athlete who can be an All-Star level player if his 3-point shot becomes more reliable." #1 cade #2 suggs #3 mobley #4 green #5 kuminga #6 barnes ... #23 sharife cooper #24 jeremiah robinson-earl ==================================================================== Matt Norlander - piece (Jul 8th) "He's ready to start from Day One, and that's not always necessarily the case with top-three picks. Suggs is as smooth a combo guard as we've seen in a while. Gonzaga had the No. 1-rated offense last season and that was with Suggs running the point. Great control, great shift-of-pace player. He's a monster in transition and it's not because he's a blur. He wasn't John Wall or De'Aaron Fox or one of these meep-meep roadrunner point guards. He has a rugged confidence to his game in transition that made him a nightmare to face on the break in college. He either had the composure to anticipate his opponents' defensive commitments, or he was usually aware enough to make the pass. Because he has such good balance and overall body strength, he was able to improvise with the dribble or even after leaving the ground. Great balance around the rim, fearless on the attack, has a shot to be one of the best rebounding guards in the NBA by the end of his rookie contract. Superstar ceiling." #1 cade #2 suggs #3 barnes #4 mobley #5 green #6 williams ... #23 Herbert Jones #24 Day'Ron Sharpe
These MF'ers just hate the Rockets. Never mind Suggs, which is ridiculous, but Herbert Jones or even Sharpe may not even be drafted in first round.
I watched many games in this prior tournament, one thing I do not understand is why Johnny Juzang is returning to UCLA, this guy is ranked like 49th or something currently, he absolutely dominated and carried that UCLA team against teams with bonified lotto and first round picks. It is cool Suggs hit that shot, but how much does that tell you about how they evaluate a player? If you are basing this on the tournament, Juzang would be a lotto pick.
That was what struck me, his fearlessness reminded me of Dwyane Wade minus the circus shots. Fairly athletic and more composed ball handler. The question would be how much scoring does translate to the league and if he is getting minutes early on.
The ncaa tournament isn’t the best criteria for someone like juzang. Actually the tournament isn’t even the sole factor for any player. It’s merely an extra tool. Looking good in a few games in March doesn’t mean a players game translates well to the nba. It isn’t surprising to me at all that he’s going back bc he just isn’t nba ready at the moment. That showed more obvious in the combine and his pro day. He got the info on what he needs to focus on and for his sake he’ll improve his chances with another year at UCLA who have a good team with him coming back
Yeah, there's alot of scheming going on or just total incompetence You can't even trust them to measure their height correctly. Cooper at 6'4.
Gordon and #24 for #13 House+Bradley+#23 for #15 #2-Mobley #13-someone that falls (Mitchell?) #15-Thor
I dont know what we should expect from Green and Mobley. If we expect them to be MVP candidates, yes, we should pass on Suggs, but is that realistic? Suggs is a sure perennial all-star, indetity franchise player, a big time winner and leader. If you can get that kind of player at any draft.....it is unlikely you'll find 2 better players in the draft. So I'm perfectly fine with drafting Jalen Suggs. Gimme my Chris Paul substitute and we'll see in the future who is the go-to-scorer.
I think we have kpj to run the point which is why I don't think we take him. I think woods does alot of what Mobley does which is why I don't think we take him What we don't have is a dynamic scoring 2 , which is why I think they take Green. Let's trade Tate and 24th for the 13 pick. Then trade the woods 13th,24th, out first next year to Detroit for number 1 pick. Draft Cunningham and Mobley. Boom. Jk would never happen
Suggs is gonna win rookie of the year and be in the NBA for 13 years. I understate you have to take the shot at Cade/Green/Mobley because of the upside but I wouldn't be surprised if the Spurs trade up to nab him. He's the best NBA ready player and competitor in this draft.
If Stone is in love with Suggs then I would call up Toronto and offer them the 2nd pick for the 4th and a future, unprotected 1st. Cleveland is definitely not taking another point guard, Toronto might want one but they would probably roll the dice on Green or Mobley at #2 and Detroit (if they stand pat) won't pass on either Cunningham or Green for Suggs. If anything, Stone should hope that Cleveland and Toronto falls in love with the same player at #2 (Mobley?) so that he can trade down to get more picks while netting Suggs (if he is, in fact, the player they want).
Im with if we go with Suggs. Trade up into the teens and get Kispert and Thor. Wood/Olynyk KMJ/Thor Tate/Kispert Suggs/Gordon KPJ/Wall/Thomas
