http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/fb/texansfront/6761116.html The Texans have placed running back Steve Slaton on injured reserve, meaning he will not play again this season. Slaton has been experiencing numbness in his shoulder and thumb and was kept out of Sunday's 23-18 loss at Jacksonville. He visited Dr. Drew Dossett, a Dallas specialist in nerve damage and spinal injuries. Dossett's clients include players from the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers. The Texans have three running backs on the active roster: Chris Brown, Ryan Moats and Arian Foster. They also have Chris Henry on the practice squad. Slaton carried the ball 131 times for 437 yards this season, an average of just 3.3 yards per carry. He had three touchdowns and struggled holding on to the ball, fumbling seven times. Five of those were recovered by the other team. He had more success as a receiver, catching 44 passes for 417 yards and four touchdowns.
I swear, if Ryan Moats isn't named the starter for the rest of the season, I will not be held responsible for my actions.
This week's box score: Moats 7 rushes, 65 yards But because the Texans staff can't quit Brown Brown 18 rushes, 30 yards
If somebody told you in the pre-season that Slaton would have under 500yds rushing you would think they were insane.
If you had told me by year 4 the Houston Broncos wouldn't have a running game, I would have thought you were insane. I thought...if nothing else...we'd have a running game.
i dont understand wy moats has not been given more touches...he's produced when he has had the opportunity
Not everyone. I believe it was our own Ric who was not too high on Slaton's potential production this year and we all said he was nucking futs.
Our o-line sucks, so the coaches feel the need to put another half-lineman (Chris Brown) at running back to help with pass protection. Even though it allows the defense to completely play the pass, because Chris Brown is no threat on the ground.
Funny. But I'm sure it was Brown that threw that INT, so we still have our back up QB! Man, this seems like the year of the injured running backs: Clinton Portis Ronnie Brown Brian Westbrook Steve Slaton I feel like I'm forgetting others...
Yep. He was right for the most part. Props to him, I guess- except that's not something very fun to be right about I still think he can be a pretty good back. He just needs to get his weight back down, and we need to be able to run-block.
wow...fml....my fantasy team is sooo dead. thankgod matt is back. Oh well, Moats better be getting the ball. Brown, with limited action....I wish.
It was more of Slaton losing his step and explosiveness than teams gameplanning against him. He was still right about him hitting a sophomore slump, and what a slump it was.
Steve Slaton appreciation post - Thanks for the effort Steve, come back and save us from Chris Brown next year. 437 rushing yards - 3.3ypc - 3 rush TDs - 417 receiving yards - 4 TDs
