The "merry-go-around" is the reason we got Harden. You can't have it both ways. Since Yao went down, the organization's goal has been to acquire a star player. None of the guys we had were going to be that guy. There was no reason to keep them around if you could flip them for something more valuable. If we had left the roster unchanged, Morey SHOULD have been fired. If you want to complain about not making progress, don't lament the fact that we turned over a roster that wasn't going anywhere.
I agree! And frankly I bet Harden really needs that too. He's getting so confident right now I think some coaches might lose his respect, but McHale is never going to have this problem with any NBA player (only Clutchfans). I don't know how great McHale is with X's and O's, but he's rarely impressed by any of the players, which pushes them farther. Did you hear the broadcast when someone quoted McHale saying--oh it was Chris Webber said--"These guys are so young and dumb they'll run through a brick wall for me." That's his strong suit, demanding all-star level performance, like in his playing days.
The mental part of the game is bigger than the physical when you get to the NBA. So many dudes come in with super hops, speed, strength, and amount to close to nothing. It's the guys that work to be superstars and think they are superstars that go far. I think the guy has all the tools, I'd love to see how far he comes working with the Rockets coaching staff.
DMo, PPat and morris are all better player right now. But TRob is playing with high energy and doing the dirty work. Throwing his body, hustling and working hard on rebound. Mchale and Harden said it before. They want a guy playing tough D and rebound. This team doesn't need a scoring 4 in starting lineup. TRob is having a chance to show role player potential. He is playing with the right style.
I'm too lazy to search my own posts but that's what I said a week or two ago. Worst case: Carl Landry. (And that ain't bad; but "worst" because TRob is a lottery pick and Carl was a 2nd round steal.) Best case: Kenyon Martin (hopefully without the mar1juana trance) EDIT: Oh, wait, found it:
I think Robinson is better with the ball further out. He's more fluid. I'd say Kemp, but obviously not that freakishly athletic. Basically 18 pts, 9-10 rebs, and 1.5 blocks a night.
IKR, he looks really short, in comparison with his peer, for some reason. He's not 6'10". Not sure if he's even 6'9".
