man, i just saw a replay of the top five vince carter dunks during the sydney olympics. those constantly amaze me no matter how much i see them. jrich and desmond masons dunks were nice, but never ever will they be able to compete with the carter, mcgrady, kobe, francis era of dunkers.

oh yeah, and dunk contestestants over 6'10 are just unimpressive, amare, bender and anderson? you think im impressed when a guy a foot taller than me can dunk? doing that is on par with putting antoine walker in the three point shootout.

    Fred Jones can fly.

I'm glad Chris Andersen made it. IIRC, he was once supposed to go to UH.

Andersen has as good of a leaping ability as any 7 fter. Perhaps he can dunk like Larry Nance.

I don't think you understand the body control needed for a 6 ft 10 , 250 lb guy to do 360s, or twist in mid-air.

oh i understand it, but i still think its cooler when a stunt plane does tricks as opposed to when a cargo plane does it.

Does anybody else get the feeling this is being set up as a definate win for JRich? He's a Reebok guy and Reebok now officially outfits the league. If he wins the contest for a third year in a row, his popularity goes up and his shoe sales increase.

I used to think the Slam Dunk Contest was possibly better than the All-Star Game.. back when Vince was in it... and checking out the old highlights back when The Human Highlight was in there or Jordan.. or maybe even Kenny Smith taking on some other players in the league.. now the rules are just pathetic.. there should be no rules when something that can bring much entertainment and a break for the NBA players.. and whoever thought of the wheel... YOU SUCK!!!

    that is all ;)

if i were God, these guys would be in the dunk contest:

    T-Mac
    Vinsanity
    Kobe
    LeBron
    DMason
    JRich
    Darvin Ham

And..you could use props, like chairs and stuff.
I remember one dunk contest, Magette or somebody was trying to bring a chair onto the floor, but they made him put it away...stupid NBA.

Baron Davis and Francis would be in it too, I think. So that Reebok could have a dunking "monopoly".

Blah. I don't care much for dunkers over 6'8 unless it's an in-game dunk. If a 6' 10 guy has the coordination to run down the court in the NBA then he has enough control to dunk. Big deal.

This contest is not going to be very good. Andersen is an in-game dunker. Fred Jones is pretty nice. Richardson is the best of them. Davis is pretty good as well. So it sounds like it will be alright, but not nearly as great as it could be.

    Imagine:
    -Baron Davis
    -Steve Francis
    -Kobe
    -Vince
    -Mason
    -G. Wallace
    -J. Rich
    -Ricky Davis

Lebron is not as good a contest dunker as you think. He does almost the same stuff as in games. Darvin Ham is an in-game dunker like Marion. T-Mac might have some nice stuff but he's too tall and not as good as the 8 listed.

I think JRich can do a 540. I thought he was going to do that last year.

Did you see the windmill and reverse dunks he slammed in against the Lakers? That windmill could've easily been a great contest dunk.

The windmill surprised me. It was pretty nice, but he usually does the same stuff. Even in the McDonald's contest, everyone else just screwed up or else he wouldn't have won.

What are you talking about? Did you see him in the dunk contest before plus he's 6'8.

Andersen was screwed! #1 the judges give 50 before the richardson dunk so now how do you distinguish that from what richardson just did. #2 The judges screw the white guy (I'm black). This contest is getting foolish with a weak field and even weaker judges...thankfully richardson is good enough to make the judges job simple enough for a sooner.

the allstar thing is becoming a joke.

rookie game was like watching a lay-up drill...No friggin D.

now the judges in the Slam Dunk contest are giving 10 to everyone and everything...

and yeah the white boy got screwed he had the best 'first' dunk from the rest of the guys other than Richardson.

Vince Carter is still the best dunker of all time.

Congrats to Fred Jones. All of his dunks were solid, although JRich had the best overall. The crowd throw in was creative.

It wasn't too bad, although both of the finalists missed their last dunk. I think if thats the case they should do the round again till someone makes one.
