You are making this up just to suit the situation!!!!! The best Point Guards are the ones who lead their teams with great playmaking, generally they are pass first Point Guards There are some 'Point Guards who are mostly Shooting Guards and that are not true Point Guards..
So because you disagree with DD about what a PG is, it makes your assessment correct and his incorrect?? I am reiterating this. But whats with knocking a player (who is our best 3 point shooter - big with Yao on the floor) because he doesnt fit some fabled archetype of what a majority of the players at his position fit? If the Rockets werent running such a read and react offense, it MIGHT have some bearing. As it is, it DOES NOT MATTER.
To Bad there is not PG or SG options on the Real All NBA Teams. They just Select 1 center 2 forwards and 2 guards.
Because the Jazz are not doing well like the Rockets. He is basing this off of team wins, not individual performance. The Rockets are very successful this year mainly because of the whole team and Aaron Brooks stepping up big.
In this type of offense AB is what the Rockets need as a starter. Especially with all the injuries they have. Yes, traditionally Lowry would be the natural starter for a team with scoring weapons but AB is are scoring weapon.
I don't understand why some poster see criticism of Brooks and why he isn't the 3rd best PG in the league (or so far) as being overly critical and too anxious fans who are simply too demanding of their starting pg. That's not the case, I just have to say that Brooks is not as good as those players and is being outperformed by them Chris Paul has been the best point guard, this season, arguably. And, he is not even on the selected for any of the teams. That alone should push Brooks from the top 3. Mo Williams, again is more consistent and at times a better shooter from outside than Brooks. Also, his numbers aren't all that different from what he produced in Milwaukee, only thing now is that he is only a very talented elite NBA team. Aaron Brooks doesn't have the same playmaking ability as Tony Parker or Derrick Rose. Not nearly as reliable as those two. Soon enough, you could add Brandon Jennings to that list. He's good, but he can't finish (consistently), like those 3 or carry a team, like the first two. You've also got Rondo. Again, Brooks is a good PG (probably top 10, now), but he isn't quite top 5, yet. No, he isn't there passing wise, or defensively that's why he isn't generally considered elite or top 5 point guard. Then, there is Rondo
Yet the criticism is that he isnt even the best person to man the 1 on his own team. Or that he is one of the worst starting "point guards" in the league because he doesnt distribute or finish at the cup as well as others. They try to undermine his main attributes which are his speed and shooting ability by saying those should not matter if he is the PG.
he already explained in the paragraph why he didn't pick deron. deron is getting enough publicity, and he basically chosed brooks over williams because the rockets as a whole deserve more credit.
All NBA teams don't differentiate between PG/SG or SF/PF. It's just "guards" and "forwards." If so it should be: 1st: Nash/Bryant 2nd: Wade/Roy 3rd: CP3/DWill Why Brooks and Rondo are there, I don't know.
I agree with the writer. It's not a who's who list of point guards or a list of the top three point guards you would want on your team. It's a list of top three point guards producing stats and wins ON THE FLOOR THIS SEASON!
