Yea T-Mac slacks off in the playoffs, he's only like 3rd or 4th all time in playoff scoring avg

I'd like to see Kobe or Lebron even make the playoffs with guys like Jerryl Sasser, Jacque Vaughn, Steven Hunter, Andrew Declerq, 300lb Shawn Kemp and Tyronn Lue.

The guy plays his ass off like no other in the playoffs. If he's being triple teamed all the time I kicks it to guys like Luther Head who's shooting 7% and missing open layups and Chuck Hayes who can't seem to find the rim when its above his head then what's a guy supposed to do!?

It's not his fault Jacque Vaughn was his starting PG, with Steven Hunter at C and Jerryl Sasser a 6th man. Not his fault the refs started to target Yao in 2005, or that Head loses all basketball skills when the words "NBA Playoffs" are laid out on the court.

Sure he takes bad shots at times, but if you had teammates like that and then playing 5x worse than they really are you'd probably jack up a 25footer with 3 guys contesting since it has a much better chance of going in than say.... a Luther Head layup.

kobe and lebron shoot worse in the playoffs too (hell, EVEN WORSE). lebron shot 39% in the playoffs last yr and 41% for his career. and kobe or other superstars don't have the all-around #s tmac does playing bigger minutes.

yes, tmac only shoots 43% in the playoffs. but the comment that guy made was he doesn't "try" in the playoffs b/c he treats it like every other game. if you do watch the playoffs, he puts 110% and puts up #s.

the funny thing to me is that people think he chokes in the playoffs but does great in the regular season. You could make a better case that he mails it in too often during the season which hurts our seeding and chances of progressing in the playoffs. He clearly plays much better in the playoffs, though.

i think he did try in the reg. season for the most part until the 05-06 season when injuries hit him.

in 04-05, he played on BOTH ends great for us. JVG put tmac on kobe, lebron, pierce, vince... many times, sharing that duty with wesley. and he defended great (remember dirk).

but since the injuries, he has "coasted" and "paced" himself in the reg. season. but you can't blame him b/c of hte injuries. we do have a better team the past few yrs.

but in the playoffs, i don't see how anyone can talk about his performance. sure he hasn't advanced. but he can't make luther head shoot 38% from 3pt range like he should or make chuck hayes make 99% of his layups like he should or make yao come back from the injury list.

fortunately, tmac is still motivated to win, as indicated from his reaction to the artest trade.

T plays too many minutes hands down.

I do live in Houston so I've been able to watch every game from preseason to play-offs. From summer league to post season trading. Barely ever miss a on Tv and when I do its 610 for me.

But this was just stating to the Tmac rules fan that on paper (like a majority said on this very thread) that his statistics in the playoffs were far superior to those in the season. Just simply not FULLY true.

If Ronnie can keep from bragging about his “ghetto-ness” (which I hope he never loses his hood factor)

If he thinks Artest not bragging about his "ghetto-ness" would help us win and he hopes Artest doesn't lose his hood factor, then he's wants the Rockets to LOSE!

I love T-Mac but those stats don't mean a damn thing if you can't get out the first round. As much as I hate Kobe, he has been deep into the playoffs with and without Shaq.

Lol, this guy probably has never seen McGrady during playoffs...it is completly different player, he leaves everything on the floor.

But I understand why we are not 2nd placed. First of all we've gotta show that we can stay healthly and play together for the entire season.

Btw, I like the nickname 'Ronnie' :)

I think its a fair ranking.... horrible analysis but accurate spot. We probably will be #1 or #2 by the end of the season, but until then 4 seems reasonable

i agree, on paper we are top two but we have not proved nothing yet. Putting us at 4 is very fair. The other teams have won championships or made it to the finals we have not played one game. So let us prove that we are top two. I see nothing wrong with this prediction

exactly! i've always thought people overrated tmac last season. from watching the games, i thought both his shooting percentage and shot selection were poor. granted yao was out and the team couldn't do anything without him on the court, but still,

you would expect better stats for a 'superstar!'

tmac is good but as for the present, he is not kobe/lebron caliber.

No one says he is, but he is definately one hell of a playoff performer. But if you honestly say he is not a good playoff performer, something is very very wrong. Meh, rockets are underrated anyways, they can say the 22 game win streak was because every team we played missed a very important role player, whiles we the rockets had a full lineup (BS!!!). I still remember the dallas game, they said we'll lose, but we won by 20. They said if Dirk was here its a different story, but we were missing Yao. Geeze, are the rockets really that hated?

Tmac is simply a typical small team-big star , who is great in a poor team yet bad in a good team like the rockets . No other big star has never brought his team to the sencond round except tmac . Tmac is not a leader at all , he is just a big role player who earns one third of the team's whole salary yet contributes only one tenth .

I was gonna say the same thing too.

True, Tmac may have never advanced past the first round, and there are some things that you can definitely blame on him (like getting "tired" late in the 4th quarter in playoff games), but one thing that you can ALWAYS count on is that he will step his game up come playoff time. His stats differential will prove that.
I just hate general bandwagoners like this guy who just speaks out of his ignorant a**, without giving a care to research some stats or background first.

Plus, he forgot that Manu is getting surgery done on his ankle (or was it his knee?). Duncan is getting older while PF's and C's are getting more athletic every year.
The Celtics is in a similar boat, although that fact will be negated by the fact that they're playing in the East.

But I do agree that this preaseason rankign is logical because we haven't had a chance to see how our Big Three will gel first, although I have no doubt that they will.

I have no problem with that ranking. We are unproven, that's a fact. It's possible that the three super stars won't mesh and we'll just kinda stumble into the playoffs without reaching our potential. Yao does have injury problems, Artest does have behavorial problems, and McGrady does occaisoinlly struggle. So yeah, that's a fair rating.

I mean the guy explicity said "if these things happen they're right there iwht the Celts" so it's not like he thinks our guys aren't capable. It would just be foolish not to consider the possibility of a meltdown/broken entire body.

That said, we are going to crush EVERYONE this year :D

Its not all about stats. Just look at the look he has on his face doing the playoffs you can tell that hes taking his game to another level.
