I had an interview right after a final. This guy was asking me random questions and I was just staring blankly into space. I think this whole notion of letting companies dictate when they will interview is crap. If I apply for any other jobs or get any interviews I am just going to be firm in my demands. It is just a stupid job.
I'd rethink that position if I were you. Is there some skillset you have that sets you apart from other applicants? In other words, why would a company want to hire you, a candidate who is firm in his demands, instead of another applicant who is willing to accomodate the company's wishes?
Of course, you can make any type of demands/requests you want. As long as you're OK with the fact that they may or will hold it against you, and that you probably won't get the job, then it's not a problem. As you said, that particular job was not one you preferred (e.g. "stupid job"), so why worry about it? The only thing that would be wrong would be if you really did want the job and then complained because they held your "I need to reschedule the interview" request against you. Can't fault them for that. But you have to understand, in these economic times, people think that you are completely wrong if you dare to suggest something like you did. Hey, like I said, you can do whatever you want, including putting your school first.
Air Langhi, After reading about your plight, I have concluded the following: Spoiler Naga .....naga ......not gonna work here
The more I read Air Langhi's posts in this thread, the more it seems he really doesn't want a job. Sort of like mom is forcing him to apply to these jobs and he complies just so she will stop nagging him.
"You want to interview me when? Nah, I don't think so. Where? Nope, not good for me. What time? Too early, not gonna happen. Can you come to my house?" Air "Head" Langhi
I agree. Seems like he is feeling forced to find a job. His priorities are in different order than 99% of the available candidates looking for a job.
Companies telling you 'when' to do your job is also stupid. It's done when I feel like it ***holes. And companies telling me 'how' to do my job? How about you **** off? Would I like to join a few of you for lunch? How about I join my foot up your ass? Like I owe them something...psshhhh....
My boss insists that I get to work on time and won't let me show up 2 hours late every day. What an *******.
Perfect example of the mindset career services people have to deal with from a lot of undergrads and even a few graduate students. Grow up.
LOL, poor baby has to take a test and do an interview. Guess how much fun he is going to have when he has to do actual, you know, work!
Hmmm... Member since Aug 2000.. what, did you join the BBS when you were TWELVE? Nothing wrong with that I guess, but with some of the topics that get tossed around in this place, and some of the posts/videos, it's kind of creeping me out.
