I would think that if they were really interested in hiring you, everyone would have been "available" to talk to you. My guess is that the guy met you, saw that you forgot your tie and instantly decided not to hire you, but then went ahead with the token interview anyway. Sounds like you made a horrible first impression and they were blowing you off. Next time, don't forget your tie...
I had finals on saturday all the time in school. It's mainly because a lot of classes have multiple sections that all take the final at the same time and the only way to reserve a large auditorium for 3 hours is to get it on a saturday.
How do you forget your tie going to a job interview? You might as well have showed up with no pants on either
You are probably right, but it was a very pleasant interview. I had interviews with three people and they were all pretty nice.
hmmm ... That just seems weird to me ... I had classes like that but at A&M we always had the tests in the evening on a weekday ... I'm not sure Id like having to do it on the weekend
I had a Saturday final at A&M last semester. crazy hard engineering class, and everybody kept running out of time every test we've taken (despite the fact that the tests were 4 problems each, 2.5 hours long). So Prof decided to have it on a Saturday and give us all day. Needless to say, I stayed in there for 5 and a half hours, took 2 energy shots, 2 advils, 2 liters of water, and 2 pisses during the exam. . The results were magnificent.
i personally would have studied for the test. i think getting a proper education first is the priority. if you are educated, intelligent, and basically have your **** together, someone will want you to work for them. but you not wearing your tie, procrastinating, etc... isn't gonna land you a top notch position. you've always got to stay respectable and keep a good head on your shoulders. good luck with the next interview.
now your school is going to have a reputation for having candidates that don't wear ties to interviews.
You failed twice. You forgot to wear your tie and didn't make a good 1st impression and are probably not gonna get the job and on top of that you are going to risk the chance of failing your exam for not studying enough!
You need to bring your A game. You are currently bringing your D-league material to the table If you want to land a proper job in this economy, you need to pay attention to detail and have an commitment to excellence to the craft. If you have to study for an exam, why can't you have done it in the previous weeks. The examiner didn't just surprise you with an exam in the past 5 days I assume. I don't get how you forgot your tie, unless you were going from the gym or something to your job interview. When you get ready for an occasion, don't you get ready all at once or do you bring a change of clothes for some reason. In order for the opportunity to serve your corporate overlords, you must be willing to sacrifice things for the greater good of the family name and the country.
unfortunately, this is it. if you want to work for someone, you'd better bring your A game. even if you don't want to. too much competition for the same position, salary, etc.
Bingo. And if this doesn't depress you enough, know that it never ends. I just got a better job within my company (that I have worked for 17 years), but had to do some ass-kissing to get it. It doesn't taste good.
The interview didn't last too long so I got a lot studying in. I doubt I am going to fail anything. I am not trying to pass I am trying to get a good grade on the test so I can keep my 4.0.
