I think Aikman doesn't like Bayless because he wrote a book back in the 90's and accused Aikman of being gay in the book.
‘FIRST TAKE’ WILL MOVE FROM ESPN2 TO ESPN IN ATTEMPT TO IMPROVE VIEWERSHIP With viewership for First Take tanking in the post-Skip Bayless era, execs in Bristol are taking a drastic measure. According to John Ourand of Sports Business Daily, First Take will soon move from ESPN2, where it has lived for almost 10 years, to the main ESPN channel, As of Jan. 3, First Take will appear on ESPN from 10 a.m. to noon. The two SportsCenter programs currently in that slot—an interview show with Hannah Storm and the “Coast to Coast” version with Cari Champion and David Lloyd—will slide over to ESPN2. First Take has seem its ratings decline sharply since Bayless left for FS1. The Stephen A. Smith-Max Kellerman duo has failed to captivate audiences the way Smith and Bayless did, and although First Take still beats Bayless’ Undisputed every day, viewership of the ESPN program is down dramatically from this time last year.
That's surprising. I found the show unwatchable with Skip, but with Max it seems to have gotten way better.
Max is more knowledgeable and levelheaded, his arguments are well thought out and pretty insightful, and that's the problem. Those qualities are not as entertaining as Skip Bayless jockriding Tebow or hating on LeBron. If you are watching either of these shows to get unbiased, decent sports analysis then you are doing it wrong. You watch these shows to be captivated and entertained.
Doesn't surprise me, that show catered to the casual/lowest common denominator sports fans and those fans aren't getting their vapid water cooler chat value from the new duo. They're like wrestling fans not tuning in to current wrestling as much because Ric Flair, The Rock, Stone Cold, Hogan, etc are all gone (or just cameos).
Max Kellerman has always been pretty decent but Scream A smith is still on that show and kari champion is annoying as hell. First take is about the most unprofessional show known to man and it can not be saved. Ratings are down, not because of Max, its because the dumb mass "sports fans" dont want to hear level headed discussion, they want a reality drama tv show when it was a yelling session between skip and smith. I still remember a show on fox sports one time where Max was the host and had a panel of guest including Scream A Smith on and basically told smith to shut up cause all he was doing was talking over everyone and yelling. Funny how theyre paired up together now and smith is the lead man. Down with BSPN!!!!! Also, that other show with sharpe and skip is even worse. Didnt think it could be possible. Good thing the price is right and then jeopardy come on at 10-11:30.
Max isn't as funny as skip . Skip argued the way he did because it was entertaining. No one tunes into ESPN to view objective analysis. Everyone thinks they know more about sports than commentators no matter how level-headed an argument the "professionals" make . Respect is a lost art . No one ever took things skip or Stephen A said seriously . They watched because it was entertaining and both of those clowns could make absurd statements with a straight face . They had chemistry . The new guy isn't up to that level yet . He's also not as naturally funny .
This is the world we live in. It pays to make obnoxious, non-sensical, poorly thought out comments. It pays to be a troll more than to be an insightful, knowledgeable talker. It pays to be divisive even if it is against common sense. That is why you have guys like Josh Anus have a radio job over Charlie Pallilo, viewership decrease when a clown like Skip leaves and above all a despicable person like Trump as president.
Time travelers keep wiping out PTI in order to solve the problem, but they cannot figure out how to do it without losing those little preview menus and the hostesses with big t*tties.
Reminds me of when they tried to replace Bob Saget on AFHV. I mean he was a moron host, dumbest jokes of all time, but the minute he was gone, the show tanked. First thing, pay your employees whatever they want to keep them. Second thing, that's it. You don't try to make something better when there is something special happening you can't explain. You run with it as long as you can.
Nobody knows that channel exists. You go there to die. RIP Red River Shootout. If you're not on ESPN or calling primetime national TV games you're an unknown.
Huh? Isn't that show still on? In prime-time on Sunday? Its ABC's longest running prime-time show. Saget left over a decade ago.
You must have forgotten what happened after he left. The show literally died. Flat lined. couldn't hold a day of the week for almost 3 years and ratings went into the dumpster. Discontinued. They had to resurrect it. It was a 17 rating during Saget. It gets barely a 2 even now after Tom brought it back.
