It might work out in the end if the pipe dream of Durant happens, but the team is worse now than it was before the trade deadline. When you make your team worse, you have to be considered a loser at the trade deadline at least in the short term.

The Rockets lost by far their best PF and arguably their best bench scorer and a 2nd round pick and only got back a late first round pick.....and they only did it to get under the luxury. There's no way anyone could consider that a "win" unless it leads to them getting to keep their own first round pick due to missing the playoffs or you are Les Alexander.

He's right. Dwight is gonna walk and we're gonna get nothing for him. T-Jones is gonna walk and we're gonna get nothing for him. We're still talented enough that we could sneak into the playoffs which will cost us our draft picks. And all that cap room is meaningless with the salary cap set to skyrocket and most NBA teams having the ability to offer a max deal.

We're basically a team going nowhere, but not crappy enough to at least get a high lottery pick. It's been the mantra of this organization for most of the post-Dream era.

Why are we discussing the "opinion" of Skip Bayless?

The side of being right and not afraid of stating an opinion? That side?

I was about to say -- from what I saw/heard, Skip's diatribe was centered around the idea that we should've gotten out from under Dwight by any means.

Like I said, you are on the side of Bobby, Barkley, Skip Bayless and some of the other resident BBS clowns.

If you end up being "right" in any provable way you probably won't have time to say "I told you so" before the Earth dies.

Sorry I have to jump in and call you out for your bull****. Something as obvious as the rockets dumping a rising player for $$$$ and effectively mailing in their season by not getting an impact player for this turd of a ship seems like winning to you? This isn't even one of those situations where you speculate about where the rockets are and what their current trajectory is (one that seems to be saved in the instance that 3rd seed team Durant decides its better to go for barely 8th seed dysfunctional team set to make an appearance on springer). People on this site have gotten so blinded with personas, names, both in the media and on this site that they use it to shape the narrative. I guess if the "right" people denied the holocaust you would be perfectly ok with it too (hyperbole I know, but you are on track my friend). The level of ignorance being displayed is baffling. Look around you. No seriously, be quiet, stop posting, and think about the rockets season. Think about the RATIONAL outcome, the sequences to follow. If you seriously believe that the people calling it for what it is are wrong based on who else is holding that opinion, you need to take a big hard look at yourself that extends beyond the realm of basketball.

skip bayless hates the rockets and if we make the playoffs and upset anyone, he will make it the other teams fault. we get no credit, not even last year.

I think the problem is that for some, just because it is straight forward and pretty obvious doesn't mean they'll be able to follow along. It is what it is.

I am almost always right, but people hold the times I am wrong as some sort of - always wrong moniker...it's cool....I know I am right in the DMo bit.

When I am wrong, I will admit it...Lowry for example.

when youre 9th seed at all star break, a 'rising player' on the last year of a contract is not valuable

I dunno, I think if he performs well there won't be any need to say "I told you so" and if he doesn't do well enough that it's obvious, it won't be appropriate.

Would we bigger loser if we did no deal at all? If there was a better deal on the table they would have made it.

Don't get me wrong I like D-Mo and I would liked to roll the dice and see if he returned and remained healthy. Morey obviously had decided his risk with D-MO did not out way his chance to sign max FA with his salary and the 1st rounder is like currency for trades which is needed. Worst case you draft a mid to late round player that is under your control for 3 years.

    So given the choice:
    1. Do nothing and lose D-Mo along with possibly Howard, Lawson, and Jones for nothing next year for a chance to play in the playoffs in hopes of getting hot. Not likely, this season appears to be lost on all fronts.

    2. Get a future 1st rounder to help with the future of the team by trading best low post score (when healthy) and best bench scorer.

Choice 2 gives you the best chance to one day be a championship team.
