Not now, but the offers will get better as free agency goes on and we see who ends up where. The two you named are long shots for sure, but its no time to panic, we can still deal from of position of streghth due to our finicial stability. Its obvious that size is huge issue for us now with the question mark hanging over Yao so we're going to hear a lot of crap offers from teams trying to unload bad contracts. There are three things that I don't think Morey will do: -If he takes back a terrible contract it won't go beyond 2010 therefore not compromising our cap situation (thus the Eddy Curry Larry Hughes talk). -He is going to get value, the whole philosophy behind his style is to get production from every player and not to over pay. -He will play his hand if forced, we will still be a playoff team if we resign Artest no matter what. Some of these teams that are going to try and play hard ball with us are going to change their tune once November starts closing in and they realize just how much money they're losing.
NO! He would have to play for the canadian national team every summer. We know how strict those canucks are.
Seems like a desperate move if we did. No need to hit the panic button already. We still have some elements to hang in the standings if Yao and T-Mac do miss a few months. Scola, Landry, Brooks, Shane..those guys are winners. Its still early in the FA period. I wouldnt jump on this deal just yet, if at all.
Dalembert + Thaddeus young + Willie Green for Mcgrady + Landry Brooks/Lowry/Barry Battier/Young/Green/Jermaine Taylor Young/Battier/Buddinger Scola/Hayes Dalembert/Hayes/Dorsey I'd love Thaddeus Young on this team. Plus if we got him we could SIGN and TRADE Artest and then we could also let Von Wafer walk and go after Odom and screw the Lakers or Spurs which is always nice or we can even go after Turkoglu and get back at the Blazers. Brooks Battier Turkoglu Scola Dalembert OR Brooks Battier Odom Scola Dalembert Thaddeus Young 6th man of the year. If Somehow Yao manages to actually come back and play around All star break
Good Lord, please make these horrific McGrady-for-whoever's stop. That, or make these NY and Philly beat writers creating them to USE THEIR BRAINS before posting this crap. Seriously, how does this benefit us? Dalembert is overpaid garbage. Maybe this Philly writer thinks nobody outside of Philly knows that? .
Hell no to that garbage trade!!!! These teams must think we are the Clippers or the Knicks. These trades are so one sided and would only help the Sixers to remove some long term, high salary contracts belonging to washed up players. If this is all some teams want to offer for Tmac, then I think we should just hold onto his contract and let it expire the summer of 2010.
Teams from the Northeast just consider other teams in other parts of the country parts of their farm system, where preposterous trades like this have a high potential for happening and warrant constant media attention. Yet with the exception of Boston all those teams suck horribly right now. I say F-- 'em. We got Morey and he's our President, Vice President, AND Undersecretary of Common Sense. Go screw yourself New York and Philly.
I would do Tmac and fillers for Dalembert, Speights, and fillers.... both add height to the front court and Speights is better than Landry, IMO
Hello, no, we already offered Gortat a MLE, and hoping for a signing. We do not need any expensive player who can only do a little thing. Pass.
there's no way we should get excited for this "rumor"...keeping tracy's contract is absolutely the best piece we have to save for this coming 2010 FA season...unless we can wrangle chris bosh back to NBA civilization away from those damn candians
Dalembert for McGrady straight up??? wow that's dumb. I wonder how many more ridiculous proposals are going to pop up from now until the trading deadline. 1st it was the Eddie Curry and Mobley for McGrady. Now this. OOOhhhh man how many more.
Sixers Want McGrady for Dalembert Well we want Lebron for McGrady and while were at it throw in Shaq as well. You know the old saying, want in one hand bla bla bla.
I think this could be the basis for something. As is, just looking at McGrady for Dalembert, the trade is lopsided in their favor. McGrady comes off the cap in one year and ticking. Plus, he will build excitement for the other team, pumping up ticket sales, and he might very well be a significant contributor this year. Dalembert is probably already overpaid, and the trade kicker makes it several million bucks a year worse. Plus, his contract if for TWO years. Philly knows that this would be a lopsided deal, and they would have some motivation to make this work out. Thus, they might be willing to add some significant sweetener, either from their team / draft picks, or by bringing in a 3rd team. From my POV, I would be happy to take Gortat, but I would like another seven-footer to back him up.
