wow...the memories that come back when i look at that website of the old astroworld attractions. man, i haven't seen some of those things since i was 6 years old.
The alpine sleigh ride was my favorite, nice and cold in the caves and the little dwarfs working. I never got the actual reason why they closed it down.
I used to work there when I was in high school, so I guess my perception of it is forever changed. But it's still a good time. The thing about Astroworld that makes it a little worse than some of the other parks is the size. They have less land, so they have to pack in all the rides, and there's not as much "Theme" park left over. But at least when I worked there they had more rides than most other parks just cause they were packed in so tight. But I used to be the manager at Excalibur and Joust-A-Bout, so my knowledge is obselete.
I took my oldest daughter to Astroworld several years ago when I was back visiting my family and the place was an absolute dump. Garbage cans overflowing, every bit of water in the place had floating garbage in it and I didn't see one person anywhere picking any of it up. It was not even close to the place I remembered as a kid.
awesome! i was really young, but that picture helps the ol'memory. those pics on the web brought back some memories... the giant boot-slide. the bumper cars (i was pissed when i came back to astroworld and they had taken them away).
