Love it. Have a portable Onyx in the house and in car. Both are XM everything and best of sirius. I listen to XMU and The Joint the most. My wife is a Lithium person. The portable is great because I can take it anywhere. I'll use it tomorrow to play NFL pregame outside at the superbowl party I am going to.
I have had it for years my original skydock still is kicking. My only suggestion is call them and ask for the $88 a year deal with xm everything package. Some people will say no just hang up and call back. Sometimes you can all get xm everything and best of sirius for $99 a year.
does the onyx have a line out slot? like i could just plug in a cable into it from some speakers? i feel like you almost wouldnt have to buy a home accessory they may want you to buy and you could just lay the receiver down on a table or book shelf and listen to the radio.
So to any of you existing Sirius customers: You are likely getting hosed. I have been a customer for 2 years now, with both the radio and travel link services. I have been paying $300/year for this service (the initial package I was signed up for), and called today to cancel because I haven't been using it as of the last few months. Boy was that an excercise... After speaking to the rep to cancel, and telling them I don't use the radio service, they offered me a package of $96/year - which I rejected. Then they offered me a package for $72 dollars per year, and a "free" XM portable radio - which infuriated me. You wait until I am walking out the door to offer this?!? That is 1/4 what I have been paying each year since I started as a customer! This is not a negotiation, I want the $75 you just charged me for the next 3 months refunded. The rep says she needs Mgr approval. Mgr gets on the phone and asks if I liked any part of the service. I told them I like the travel link, but the previous rep informed me I cannot have just the travel link service without the radio service. He then offers me the same package I ahve for $60/year. I tell them they are not listening, I do not listen to the radio service, and although a good deal, I am not going to pay for something I don't use. He then offers me the travel link package for $4/month (without radio service) - which I accept, reluctantly. Mainly because I do use that service quite a bit. Told him that both reps I spoke with communicated to me that this wasn't possible and I was not happy about their attempts to force me to have the radio service in order to get what I wanted. He then apologized and told me if I change my mind, to call back and ask for him specifically, and he will give me the "best deal possible for the radio service." In any case, point of this rant was just wanted to inform you folks that use the radio service that if you call them and "cancel", you will get a significantly better deal. Just one Clutchfan looking out for the good of the community!
They have a promotion which is like $30 for 6 months or $25 for 5 months that has been running for like 4 years now. That's what I use whenever I want to renew. Just mention that you got an email for renewal with either of those two options and they honor it to you right away, at least from my experience. Also, you can tell them to turn off automatic renewal while you're on the phone with them. Found this on slickdeals too. Spoiler
I actually got the 6-mos for $25. It's not the full package and it sucks that they moved the live NFL games off of the basic...but I like it more for the music. Have decent over the air stations in Austin but moving back to Houston and the world's worst radio market means I'm keeping it.
I called two weeks ago and had my price knocked down to $25 for 6 months and I have everything, the XM/Sirius/Sports package plus internet. I rarely listen to it in the car though, only through the Sirius app at work to listen to Stern.
I just bought a used car that has Sirrus. I called and they activated it for 3 mos. for free. But really with a 10G phone plan and bluetooth it doesn't seem worth paying for. I do like other people picking the music sometimes but I can run Pando and Spotify on my phone and get my traffic status on Google. I really only found Bluesville and Little Steven's garage rock to be go to stations. I'll check back to see if someone posts to change my mind.
