Tired of these posts that act like everyone is naive around here. There are a lot of reasons why the Rockets are better than their record and a relatively quick rebuild is a possibility: Gordon is out Numerous injuries have prevented consistency Wood was out for an extended time, and doesn't appear to be 100% Nwaba is out Despite heavy sarcasm from others, Olynyk does look like he can make a difference Stone has already publicly advertised we would trade picks We have 3 first round picks this year, with a chance for a top 3 They aren't trying to win right now Things change fast... remember when we were contenders a few months ago? We could also miss out on the top 3 pick, and continue to suffer from injuries, so don't come back and say "I told you so" if they tank next year as well.
lol, even if they’re better than their record, they’re still sh*t so who cares only idiots thought we were contenders a few months ago while the ones with common sense knew what the deal was with this squad “they aren’t trying to win now”...lol, they couldn’t win games even if they tried so that’s irrelevant
also, we had multiple guys shooting out of their mind we are the worst shooting team in the league, yet we averaged 17.2 made threes a game on 39.6% shooting during that 6 game winning streak...FLUKE Wood shot 55% from 3 on 4 attempts a game House shot 50% from 3 on 4 attempts a game Cousins shot 41% from 3 on 6 attempts a game Nwaba who is shooting 27% for the season and is a career 32% 3 point shooter shot 44% EG shot 41% on 7 attempts a game freaking John Wall shot 43% from 3 on 6 attempts a game during that stretch so a stretch where we shot historically great from 3 facing a bunch of decimated squads at the start of the season when teams are still trying to find their groove is proof that the Rockets were actually good...LMAO The Cavs started out the year 8-7. By the logic of the delusionals, they must be a playoff caliber team that decided to just start losing on purpose. the 16-17 Lakers started the year 10-10, then reality hit and they finished with a 26-56 record
he conveniently left out that the Hawks are 16-6 in their last 22 games...the real reason why they’re on a roll
I just hope the Rockets do not trade their draft pick away for a player on a cheap 3 or 4 year contract. Tilman as owner scares me.
Nobody with commons sense will need to say I told you so. Reality will simply continue to do that for you and for years to come. This isn’t just a next year thing. We will also continue to hear the poor excuses and delusional posts instead of folks being able to admit they suck. Btw the rockets were never contenders a few months ago
They're showing to have 3, possibly 4. There's no way they are bringing in all those picks. I would trade for a young veteran, use to trade away bad contract(s) or draft and stash.
Clutch seems to feel the same way I do! ClutchFans@clutchfans Young players progressing and draft position improving... It was a perfect night for the Rockets. KPJ career-high FIFTY points Christian Wood scores 31, hits career-high 6 triples Rockets hit 25 threes Rockets beat Bucks and they own MIL's first-round pick
The most important thing in the NBA and in any sport really is consistency. Part of being consistent is being consistently healthy. You can not say that this was some sort of fluke year when EG being out is your top bullet point. EG having a year where he played 90% of the games would be anomaly. That was the most valuable characteristic of Harden's tenure as a Rocket, is that he was able to consistently play and consistently get up from any turned ankle or anything else when he was here. A team with B+ players that play 95% of the time will make the playoffs over a team with A- players that play 70% of the time. The way Wood is built, I do not see him playing 75+ games a year + playoffs. As it stands, we do not have consistency in many aspects, maybe in some role players like Tate, but that is about it. There are some exceptions, like if you have someone like AD who misses games every year, but when on the court can carry your team, then it could work, but that is another tier of talent which we do not have.
All I know is you Harden haters wanted nothing to do with 8th seed, 4th seed, WCF... It was literally championship or tanking. So I have no idea why you think shooting for the 8th seed is a great thing. Don't set yourself up for disappointment. Set the bar real low. Lower than a pregnant ants stomach.
Well it also goes to who can we beat. Denver will be better and more healthy. Utah has everyone locked and loaded maybe Mike Cnley degresses. Suns are loaded, maybe Chris Paul degresses. Clippers will still be damn good as will Lakers. Memphis is getting better. Warriors will be healthier. DAllas is still getting better. Portland will still be competing as well. Then people are saying Wolves are more of a position than us with KAT, Russel, Edwards and then a possibly pick and some nice role players. Pelicans have some x factors on how they decide to build, but they do have Zion and Ingram with another year under their belt. Kings we should be able to count on sucking, they do have a star in Fox. And Spurs, I'm still waiting for them to fall off. They looked like they'd suck, damn you pop. Where do we fit in with all of that? Can we be a team that just competes hard and sneaks in? Maybe. Wall/gordon going to be healthy useful for us? In any case, I like our team, but the west is tough. the 10seed play in makes it more exciting though.
This makes sense. the NBA is a talented league, under dogs have upsets all the time. But over a long season and long series it usually evens out for the teams that aren't consistently good. wizards beat the nets and jazz this year, they are not better then them, but you can argue in the nba any given night something can happen. Rockets are young, gritty, energetic, and hungry. We can be a problem for some times, but we don't have the consistency and depth really to compete if you see how loaded the west is in the playoffs. Are we putting more depth and talent than Denver, Utah, Clippers, Lakers, Suns, Warriors, Mavs, Grizzlies, Pelicans, so on next year? thats already a formidable 10 I do think we should have a chance. This year was a shitshow. And whose to say wood with a year of being 'the man' under his belt isn't working on his body this offseason? He wants that max, go get it young man! Likewise with KPJ. We need more talent, depth, that will take money. But I could see us in the play in and being a hard out, or an annoying one.
