Since 1999, each year's NBA Final had at least one team from California, Texas, or Florida

    In the spirit of heyPs other thread, we could say that since 1999 every single NBA champion team has been from Texas.

    Exceptions:
    1. Teams from Florida wish they were in Texas, because the tax laws in Texas are better, so instead of calling them Florida teams, we call them Texas teams.
    2. Teams from California are actually closer to Texas than Florida, so we call them Texas teams.
    3. Boston is in Texas.
    4. Detroit is closer to Boston than to Florida, and since Boston is in Texas, Detroit is in Texas.
