    You dream too much.

Rockets would be absolutely nuts to give a long-term extension near max to a 30-year old player who has not been healthy since the 2005-2006 season.

Yao Ming, as good as he is WHEN healhty, could unintentionally hold the Rockets hostage if the above were to happen and injuries were to reoccur.

    2006-2007 Yao's last game is 12/23-3/5. In 32 games they went 20-12=.625%
    2007-2008 Yao's Last game is 02/24. In 26 games they go 19-7=.7307%
    2009-2010 Didn't play. Team goes 42-40=.51%

In those 3yrs, the rockets won 81 of 140 and thats including this season. Thats 57.8% including this season with chuck hayes at center and mcgrady not even playing.

yao hold rox hostage? you must be under drug.

yao doesn't need to take anyone as a hostage. he can walk away. he doesn't demand rox must sign him. he can play for other teams. actually, if yao walks away, it saves rox 17 mil next season. if you believe he is not worth a max contract. other teams will do. if you say yao hold rox hostage, it's same to say rox hold yao hostage and fans hold yao hostage. fans here use his injury to take advantage.

ok, let's put it in this way. rox needs yao more than he needs rox. if fans here don't want to spend money, why just let him leave? don't try to propose 10 mil/ per year contract to insult someone who can make the max in somewhere else. whether he is worth or not? free agent market will speak out.

seriously, i am not against letting yao leave. but i won't dream we can get bosh if yao is not on the team like your guys do. i will expect rox will be in lottery every year in near future unless we draft someone like king james or kobe but the chance is worse than the chance yao is 100% back.

after long arguing with all of you, i fully understand why DM said in public we have no other choice but bet on yao.

So now it's no longer collective above 0.600 and 25-7 without Yao anymore?

I wonder why you only did selective years instead of evey year since Yao became injury prone.

Even just for these selective years, only one year they had better record without Yao. And it was exactly as I said: Rockets went on a 10 game winning streak before other teams adjust and became a so-so team. They didn't do well in playoffs either.

It happened over and over again, Rockets would keep going once Yao went down for some games, then got figured out and became mediocre.

Since when Bosh is a better player than Yao (when healthy)?
People on this board are so funny! Suddenly Bosh becomes the best big man of the decade.

Since when is Yao healthy? Will Yao ever be healthy? Should we gamble on his foot and at what cost to the team? When can we expect Yao to become a 20/10 player again and if he does, how long will it last? Bosh is the best big man on the market right now, while Yao is a ticking injury bomb waiting to happen. It is called looking out for the best interests of the Rocket, not about one player.

I would extend Yao's present contract one year.
If he satisfies the needs of the club then he gets a fair contract for a center. :p

Yao was reluctant to jump up for blocks because he has always been under pressure by the probability of another injury. Now that his bad foot is rebuilt w might see all that change once he gets his game back on track :p

Probably wouldn't take too much stock into these rumors.
These sources are probably just as reliable as chinese products.

First yr with tracy they lost to dallas. next year when yao played his best, they couldn't win a game minus tracy. the next year when he missed chunks of games, they played .625 ball. The next year he missed chunks again and they played .730 ball. The next year he didn't miss many games. This year he missed the whole season and you still missed my point. Over the last few years, the rockets have shown they could win without yao, but couldn't win without tracy. Mostly due because the huge load and specialized, basic offense they used to run initiated by tracy. Thats why when yao missed games and we had deke, the defense actually was better. Offensively, tracy and other increased their output. I never said they were a better team without yao. I've always said you have to replace talent with talent to be better. If you lose a guy making max for the year, how do you replace his talent? You can't, but the rockets did a piss poor job by starting chuck hayes for yao. If they had gotten any player with any skill at the center spot the team would've won 50 games or close to it. Thats not a knock on yao, thats just the truth.

I just think before you make any statement, please look at the following:

my heart literally dropped when i saw yao in that immense amount of pain. i thot to myself it had to be serious for him being in that much pain. then i saw him walk on his own power to the locker room and i breathed a sigh of relief. and when i heard him tell keith that he was going back no matter what, i was like oh shiz, yao is a champion!

It really shocks me after i see your opinions here in houston.
before I thought you will like guys like YAO. Now it seems I am wrong.

honestly speaking, it is really perfect that rockets sell/trade YAO or doesn't make contract with YAO.
Several years passed, rockets sill doesn'e get the hope for champion.
If Yao stay here and get a littel pay and short years, meanwhile he can't get champion.
Why not go to other team for a champion ,meanwhile get little pay.

Since getting a little ,the better/champion team is a better choice for Yao.

So,Please don't contract with YAO, we saw seven years loose .

We want YAO win the champion,no matter in rocket or not.
