Not true. A good team exists because players work well together. Taking care of its players is one thing, coddling and overpaying them is something else entirely. Yao is getting treated well enough, getting paid $17 million for sitting on the bench. Even if he was playing, he would still be overpaid. Team first, players second.

For sure all the Yao haters want the Rockets to get rid of Yao Ming.
But they want other stars like Bosh, LeBron and/or Stodemire come to the Rockets . They just cant grasp the only reason any of these stars would want to come to the Rockets is to play with Yao Ming! :p
Without Yao it will be a long road!

Sorry but you are incorrect team and players go hand in hand as each is interdependent on each other-
A team only exists if it has players,
Players exist without or with a team :p :p

You do realize you are wanting to gamble our future on the following:

    - Yao becomes healthy and returns to form
    - Yao is no longer injury prone and will not crap out on us again
    - Yao is actually capable of leading us anywhere despite being one of the easiest to negate "superstars" in this league

Those stars don't want to play next to Yao Ming if he can't play or will crap out again with a bump to the knee or a foot on his foot. While his rehab is looking good and we expect him to come back next season, there are too many if's and but's to bank the team's success or future on him. If he is willing to do a 4 year contract at $12 million, that is worth considering.

So let the players that have been detrimental to the team go away if he refuses to sign a contract that is also fair to the team. While Yao is not detrimental from a behavior standpoint, he is certainly detrimental as an injury prone and overpaid player. I am not saying to simply trade him or let him go. I am saying to only let him go if the price is not right. I would rather have the Rockets find someone who produces a bit less, but can be counted on to play near every game without the perpetual fear of a season ending injury.

you're the one who started to gauge fans' loyalty on this board. you should look at yourself in the mirror.

you're the one who are trying to destroy morey's plan for rox. morey wants to get bosh and pair him with yao to be a strong title contender. you're keep bashing yao for your own sick attitude to yao. can't you figure out you plan is completely different from morey's?

i am the only one here to say the best case is yao picks up his option so rox has time to evaluate yao. i am the one here to realize morey's plan depends on yao. if he goes to another team, morey's plan will be gone too. getting bosh will be delusion (since you like to use this word). so keeping yao is the key to morey's plan and is what he is betting on. to keep yao by throwing #s proposed on this board is delusive too (if yao options out his current contract). i am the one here to propose to give him the max but with clauses to protect rox interest (see my previous posts). all of you saw is "max" but not rest of posts.

to clarify the issue one more time, if yao options out, rox has 2 choices, one is to give him max but get good enough clauses to protect rox interest and continue to bid bosh service. or rox lets him go and rebuild the team. don't tell rox still can get bosh if yao is not on the team.

I gauge a fan's loyalty by whether or not he puts a player above a team or not which you seem to do with Yao a lot. But lets get some things straight here.

    - You do not know what Morey's plan is so don't even pretend you do.
    - The people who are vying for Bosh are fans and the media. For all we know, Bosh could be a smoke screen for us to go after someone else.
    - Suppose Rockets are genuinely chasing Bosh, he wants to go on a team that can contend. The Rockets showed they compete in a heavily competitive West with just a bunch of role players on on the Rockets, he gets a chance to lead this great team and be the man with or without Yao.
    - Morey could trade up and pickup Cousins or some other great big and we totally forgo looking to trade for a big and focus on another PG

You severely overrate Yao. As good as he is when healthy, there are too many questions surround his health and his status. As a free agent, would you want to bank your chances on a guy who can go down at any time? The team as is is more of an impact than Yao at this time.

To further clarify my point since you seem to be confusing my hopes for the team with other members, here are my intentions:

    - I would gladly welcome Yao back at a fair price assuming that he does opt out. A fair price for someone with his injury history and lack of contributions when fronted would be 2-4 years at $12-13 million.
    - In a league where the centers on other teams are not as skilled, I would gladly trade in Yao for someone that will give us a solid 12-15/10 effort each night without having fans hold their breaths in fear every time he gets bumped.
    - Rockets if given the choice of max contract or letting him walk should let him walk. No other team in their right minds would offer Yao a 5 year max contract considering his injury history.
    - Rockets have a lot of assets and good contracts and therefore will be able to make some sort of trade. Whether that is for Bosh or someone else, who knows

I hope this is false. The guy has been paid a ****pile of money and has missed tons of games almost every season.

6 years? No way. Love him, but no way

Agg, why would Morey want to pick up his option and then test him to see if things will work out...

That's the same as buying a used car and then testing driving it to see if it runs ok...

There is a reason why he is the only one thinking about it, because it doesn't make sense to anyone else.

Does anyone here honestly believe that Yao won't have another major injury in the next seven years?

    Didn't think so.

i base on what morey said in public. there are a quite few of interviews, radio talk show posted by fans on this board. i based on jonathan writing after he attended conferences where morey addressed to media. i don't peek into morey's brain to figure out what smoke gun is in his mind. you can guess whatever you want.

morey clearly said to the public getting yao back next season just like signing a star in free agent market. we need to get another elite to make this team immediately become a title contender. if we don't get another elite, we are still good playoff team with just getting back yao. he believes yao will 100% healthy when the season starts and he expects yao will be back to his best in 2008-2009 before the playoff. morey said he is betting on yao.

i don't know it's you or me to pretend to know morey's plan.

i am not sure whether you really understand what player option means?

do you suggest rox don't want yao to picks up his option for next season?

I am even surpised someone agrees with you.

What Morey says and what he does do not often matchup. I also remember Morey saying that Landry would be a Rocket for a while. Yes he initially said we are committed to building around Yao, but that was for lack of better options. You think someone with Morey's caliber did not realize that a team built around a player as broken as Yao would not win?

Also, what could Morey say... that Rockets have given up on building around Yao? Yea... like that will go over real well... Rockets have gone from Yao is untouchable to no one is untouchable at the right price. That is a huge concession IMHO. Just because Morey says something does not mean he is telling the truth.

Not going to even answer your first question....

Why would they want to pick up his option without doing a test run... Just because he looks good (Bill Walton) doesn't mean he can still play at NBA level or hold up health wise (Bill Walton).

Basically, I was trying to have an intelligent discussion with you and my fault was hoping that I could get an intelligent answer.... We now see that's not going to happen.

In all of your disucssion you and Choujie keep posting about sign Yao now...

You go on to say that the Rockets can not sign a big FA without Yao... I wonder how they did this before Yao or how other teams are able to sign free agents with out someone like Yao?

    How is this true???
Each Individual is totally different from every injury.. If Yao sucks do you really think some team will give him a MAX deal in this economy... Owners are cutting salary not increasing it.
You just stated Morey is a betting man... If I have a used car with a bad transmissionand i'm trying to get rid of it, you think i'm going to tell everyone that it's slipping... Also Morey does not have to BET ON YAO... T-Mac and Yao became expendable last year when everyone even the media saw the Rockets not only play as a TEAM (1 UNIT) but WIN as one.
As stated above... There is no guarantee that Yao will be able to even come back, so why pay for a product before you test it. Also why would the Rockets want to tie themselves to a player they can't use... Again like paying on a 4 year car loan and the car is broke down in the driveway.

If the Rockets do this then they have not learned anything from the past(Sacremento and Chris Webber)....

If Yao is back then prove it!!!!! But no way in H _ _ _ do you give him a contract without seeing and testing the product.

Yao's agent is doing the right thing by trying to get his client signed before the Rockets realize that the product is damaged...

morey did say what you mentioned "no one is untouchable at the right price" in public. but later on, in a radio interview after a couple days, he specifically clarified it was just a typical gm answer after hosts kept asking whether yao is included or not. he didn't want to ppl to misunderstand the meaning of that sentence. you're the one of them who misunderstand.

of coz, nothing is fixed. anything can happen. if cleveland wanted to trade labron for yao, i won't blink my eye once. the key is right price. unfortunately, you can't get a right price.

And I don't either. All of this is my opinions and speculations and are clearly stated as such. You are the only person pretending to know what Morey wants. My stance has always been that Yao is not worth any contract above $15 million for reasons that have been posted over and over and over, much less a max contract. If he is willing to come back for a fair contract, then great. Otherwise, I am totally content if the Rockets let him walk and trade for someone who won't produce 20/10 but can actually last long enough to see the end of the post season in a Rockets uniform. There are simply too many questions when talking about Yao, not only his current health status but his entire future as a player in general. Only YOF think that Yao can easily get a max contract from any other team.

From the standpoint of a Rockets fan, I couldn't care less who we trade as long as we improve as a team. Players come and go, but until Rockets are sold and moved, they will always remain constant as my home team. Teams first and players second should always be a Rocket's fan's mentality. How can one even call themselves a fan if they are willing to put a player above the team?

And how do you know everything else he said wasn't also a typical GM answer? I am guessing there is only a double standard when it comes to answers that support what you want? Right now, until Yao recovers from yet another serious season ending foot injury, he is about as useful to the Rockets as a team as a basket of potatoes.
