    everybody, wait a moment.
The name of that article is "Yao Ming: I am not good enough"

Let me just translate the whole article to English, please bear with me coz my English is good enough as well

Yao Ming: I am not good enough

Rockets lost to Suns at home. Yao Ming grabbed 8 pts in total, with 2 pts and 2 rebs at first half.

In this new season, Rockets has played 12 games. Yao Ming led in score or rebounds for 5 games each. In the last 3 games, Yao had 52 FGA and 19 FTA. It seemed that he looked like a franchise player now, but Yao didn't think so. He said: "I didn't do a good job in this position."

The left toe of Yao was still bleeding, even walking may hurt sometimes. But Yao didn't wanna talk about that, "It is nothing. I know exactly what kind of me the team expects. What i said wouldn't change anything.I just don't understand what my teammates are thinking about. Everybody is not that excited when playing, i think it is because i am good enough. "

Then how to make him a good franchise player?

In Yao's opinion, the first problem is the communication with teammate in court. "I still have problem in language", he said "althought my English is OK now, but it is hard to think up an appropriate phrase in court since the transition is so fast. You know, after you translated into English, the other anything occurs."
He said, "my situation now is just like the memory of my new computer--not good"

    ----------------------------
come on guys, Yao didn't try to find an excuse, instead he tried to put everything on his shoulder. I knew he had a lot of deficiencies, but he IS trying to improve. PLEASE, give him more time.

My angry face in your face, from a foot above you, communicates quite well in any language. Gesture to paint. Raise hands as if to catch. Jab index finger in sternum of guard you are speaking to, then point it toward yourself. Maintain angry face throughout. Communication problem solved.

LOL! I can tell you're as pissed off as I am, Will. Although, to be honest, I am more pissed about the makeup of the team and the changes that I believe still must be made rather than our 3-10 record.

Look, there is clear miscommunication between Yao and the passers today. In order to fight his defenders from pushing him below, Yao often has to shift his balance low and lean on his defenders. During this process, Yao has trouble rebalancing himself and consequently missed the passes several times. That is a problem of him. He needs to learn how to keep his balance better. On the other hand, teammates need to realize that problem and try to pass him the ball when he is balanced. Often time, the best oppertunity is immidiatly after Yao comes off a screen, before he gets tangled up with defenders. And when defenders front Yao, he should leave his defenders and go right to the basket for a lob.

Sometimes I wonder what posters here are even responding to. Are you complaining that Yao communicated anything at all? Are you suggesting that being a foot taller would have any bearing on a multi-millionaire spouse?

This board is so whacked-out now, I can't even figure out what someone is trying to say. I'm really disappointed in Yao? Yao should be raising hell with everyone except JVG, or when T-Mac's not on the court?

It's really difficult to discern. A month ago almost everybody was so overly-optimisic about how we'd start this season even if T-Mac had been healthy. And seemingly now even those who are not crucifying anyone are half-assedly calling for pounds of flesh, I think.

Very often here, people could use a good jab to the sternum, but I wonder if it should be from a much bigger or much wealthier person. I wonder if we should all meet here next year to reminesce and explain what has been going on here.

Either that or DoD might find something humorous, MacBeth could unretire or people could stop accusing people of whining while they themselves are whining. It might be cool if Mooch went on a real b****-fest so I could start hearing people correctly.

Heaven help Yao if he'd said something like "I'm patient, I believe in our new guys and when Tracy's healthy, we'll kick-ass". No sternum jab, no mojo. Sad.

Yao having trouble getting position isn't miscommunication. He doesn't understand how to get into defenders on a post up. He kind of stands there and waits for the pass instead of backing a guy down and getting the pass while he's got the defender on his hip. He doesn't attack his defender for position. Trust me, if Yao got into his defender and yelled out for the pass he would get it every time. Everyone is waiting for Yao to demand the ball and attack the rim.

    1. Yes, being 7'5" and 310 pounds helps in getting your point across.
    2. Yes, Yao should raise hell with JVG: "I'm going to play in the low post like you need me to, and I need you to back me up by benching the players who won't pass me the ball or trading the players who can't."
    3. There's nothing to be be patient about in a 3-10 team. And if we're going to save this season, we don't need Yao to believe in Derek Anderson. We need Yao to believe in himself.

The problem is Yao has weak hands, there were several lobs thrown at him, he just can't catch them. Unless the pass is right at his chest, most of the time he is not catching it.

A bigger slower C can NOT prevent a shorter but quicker guy from fronting him. There is just no way a truck can outmanuver a convertible.

The only way to stop being front is to make them pay. Anytime defender front you, you get a clean path to the basket. That is how Shaq deals with fronting.

Yao has little problem getting into good positions early this season when D was not fronting him.

    That's an excellent point.

The best way to break apart a fronting defense is to spin to the basket for an alley-hoop dunk. This is what Shaq does all the time.

Unfortunately, this requires a center to have quickness and soft hands. Yao often fumbles the alley-hoop pass or get the ball stolen because he does not get to the ball fast enough.

Weak hands are a problem, but it is not all. Yao and the rest of the team simply cannot excute a lob pass correctly. When Yao got fronted, what does he do? He uses one arm to push the back of his defender and extend the other arm to ask for ball. What do our guards do? Hesitate, hesitate, then swing the ball around 9 out of 10 times. Occasionally they attempt a pass over Yao's defender after a lot of hesitation. That pass is gonna be hard to catch for 2 reasons: first off Yao has little seperation between his defender and himself, secondly 2nd defender already come to sandwich Yao.

What Yao needs to do is immediatly after his defender gets in front of him, he seperate himself from the guy fronting him and move towards the basket and the lob pass has to simultaneously. This way, Yao creats more space for the pass and avoids being sandwiched. Shaq always does it when his defender gets in front of him.

If the alley-hoop is done correctly, Yao won't have defenders all over him to make him fumble the ball. When did you see Shaq has anyone close to him on those alley-hoop dunks? The key is spacing and timing. At this point, the team is doing neither right.

Might we have better spacing with a triangle offense?
