Oh sina, how do you do it? You always amaze me with your crap.

(Itried to remember what I wrote when Sina had the "Yao working out now" article that had a picture of Yao from a few years ago to back up their story! :D )

While ESPN is full of crap in their journalism department (Forde, Ford, etc) with hype, sensationalism, skewed opinions, and even god awful trade speculation by so-called "experts," at least they don't hover around libel and some of the most ridiculous fables beyond imagination.

Perceiving and defending Sina as a reliable source of news and information is like saying Ashlee Simpson is a source for quality music. While on the subject, a deaf mule being branded would sound better than Ashlee Simpson.

So please, I urge the blocking of Sina links.

Comparing Sina to ESPN is like comparing the National Enquirer to any major newspaper. LOL. ESPN verifies their sources beforehand and are usually right on the money with breaking stories. Sina is wrong so often it compares better to a rumor mill than a legitimate news source. The few times Sina gets it right doesn't make up for the utter nonsense. Regardless, we shouldn't ban Sina. That's crazy.

You know where Sina got that from, right? Right here at good ole' clutchfans.net, from the member here known as ICQ2300. Thats the kind of outfit they run over there. We are talking about a website that ran a story about Sura being out and not giving a damn about the team last year because of a member here who was at a party and posted pictures of Sura and other Rocket players, and they didn't stop there, they made it seem as if they were at the party and were giving a firsthand account. Theres probably a very small percentage of time they are factual, but the majority of time they're full of ****, so if they are being on the level, how are you to know?

Here's the primary distinction between ESPN and SINA (from what I have seen/read from both sources)...

ESPN distinguishes between 'news' and 'opinion', while SINA seems to have no problem mixing its 'creative analysis' or 'perception' with news. An article like this, for example, confuses you to no end; is it 'news' or 'opinion'?

You can't honestly draw a comparison between ESPN and SINA...two entirely different things.

No, the problem is that since most of us can't read the Chinese articles, we can't decide for ourselves if it's "news" or "opinion". Who's to say that this was portrayed as news. We can't read the context of the article, and we're not familiar with the writer in case he has a track record. Imagine if the NY Post was in Chinese. This article isn't far off from the "insider" information that Peter Vecsey is know to impart. Or Charley Rosen for that matter.

Banning sina would be unfortunate because they do give a level of access to Yao that you just don't get from American sources. Yao is just more willing to open up, and has an easier time communicating with the Chinese media. A lot of worthwhile interviews and news items have come down the pipe the last few years, and it would be a damn shame to lose them.

People should keep posting relevant Sina articles. But we should definitely read it with a grain of salt and decide for ourselves the worthiness of the article in question.

The poster put the string "SINA" in big capitals in the thread title.

If you hate SINA so much - just don't click the damn link.

I came to Canada as an adult from mainland China, so I can read Chinese well. :)

I read the article and I would say the author is presenting his/her own speculation in the form of news. I don't like sina nba article's style. A lot of times they translated the article from Chron without even mentioning the source. And quite oftern the translation of players or coaches' quote are just terrible (with the english version presented on Chron or AP). And my impression after reading all those articles is that they make no effort (or deliberately) distinguish between news and opinions. Yes, they do have a lot of insider information abut yao or are quicker than other sources sometimes, but due to their writing style and track record I can't help but put a lot of question marks to their articles.

The other Chinese websites: sohu or tom is better than sina in terms of writing style though generally sina is the quickest one. So I read all three websites to make sure I get the correct information.

But see, this is missing the point. Having "SINA" in the title isn't the same as "POSSIBLE (insert movie name) SPOILERS".

It's been known around this site that Sina has been, for the most part, far from accurate in anything they cover, especially "insider" stories.

There's still a clinging to hope that with every Sina posting that there will be credible news and true insider, story-behind-the-story information not available to Americans. Time and time again this theory has been proven false.

Personally, I appreciate any attempt to bring extra outside information that may be relevant to the Houston Rockets and their fans, but there are inaccuracies (ignoring any leeway for possible language misinterpretations) in the bulk of what is posted on this message board from that website.

I can't fully grasp or understand how that site is so popular and viewed as reliable from those who are regular readers.

For the future I think it would be great if stories that are posted from Sina would be factual, as I feel it reflects this message board in a negative light if ClutchFans is seen as the place for news on the Houston Rockets.

That's just my opinion. Unfortunately it has and might always be that having "SINA" in the title will turn off many folks.

And for the record if Sina (or anyone else for that matter) is indeed taking rumors, thoughts, discussions, and ideas from this site (or anywhere else) and passing them as their own, that is absolutely deplorable. They should be blocked for that alone, especially when there are actual insiders and sports writers who are members of this place.

My whole knowledge of the saga comes from playing a bit of Dynasty Warriors II five years ago, so....uh....yeah, kind of. Just, less Cao-ish.

and they were laughing and talking after the game also.

    I call major bs.

In the Chron article, Juwan refused to elaborate on what James said, but evidently it was a name that he would not repeat. James may have been trash talking all the ROckets, but check the replay(i have numerous times while editing)...James completes the play, and then shoves Juwan in the back...then you can see his mouth moving...evidently he called Juwan something that really set him off.

All speculations, both Sina and bashers in this thread. I guess it is fun to bash when the team is losing.

If this had been Yao laughing and talking with James after the game, some people here will be calling him a "soft player" or a "wimp who doesn't have his teammate's back." ;)
