Well now I understand why rookies don't play. Mrs. Van Gundy doesn't let her husband risk his job and his paycheck on those dang mistake laden rooks!

I will never complain about Gundy again. After all a guy has to keep the little lady happy if he wants to stay in the "zone". :D

Novak, get used to that bench boy. You are gonna have infected splinter wounds by April. :p

But wait, does this mean if we can make certain uh arrangements on Jeff's behalf that uh we could get some playing time for some uh rookies?

Just kidding Mrs. VG - don't wanna risk the wrath of a woman!!!!

Well Big Americans always thought sina.com reporters can only fabricate or translate stories from US media.

They never realized that there are currently 3 to 4 Chinese reporters (from Titan Sports, Basketball Pioneers, sina, sohu) stationing in Houston. Sometimes, they even travel with the Rockets on away games for the coverage of Yao Ming and the Rockets.

And this time, this article on sina.com that Van Gundier so kindly translated came 1 day AHEAD of Fran Blinebury's article on Houston Chronicle.

So can we say Fran Blinebury is a copycat ???

yup he might be a copy cat.. but anyways pryuen.. i dont think anyone meant to disss sina. its just that you have to admit . sometimes sina gets articles, facts and news all twisted up.. they even write articles based of some threads they get here.. there have been times where their credibility has been questiones. and once it happens once people will always question their credibility

oops, so this time sina did the interview?
I know that there are quite a few Chinese reporters that follow Yao closely. But still, probably 90% of the articles on sina/sohu are either just translations or "imaginations" of the reporters. The title usually goes like "US experts say ...". That's why I dont like them. I usually go there just for news like results/stats, but never want to read their comments/analysis stuff.

YUP.....I know that, as I was once a victim of it this summer. I became a big laughing stock of every Yao Ming/Rockets fans on Clutchfan sites, RealGM and YMM.

    http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=2437042&postcount=1

This mofo Wang Meng from Titan Sports "fabricated" an article straightly from a youtube video (dated summer 2005) showing Tracy McGrady working with his personal trainer, Wayne Hall in his gym at home, and made it sounds like it was 2006 summer.

I spent over 2 hours working on its translation, and posted them in every major Rockets fan sites, only to find out later I was completely fooled....

From then on, I had been very very careful on my selections, and sometimes I just cut down on my translations..........

They are usually fairly good with direct quotations from players/coaches, but some of the other stuff, yes, seem to be just translated (usually, but not always, fairly accurately and attributed to the original source) or even fabricated.

Yep. I think after reading that, every guy quietly nodded to himself and said, 'Ok, I've been there before.'

Wait a minute. I am confused: Gundy not playing rookies is to keep his wife happy or himself happy? All I know is: No money, No honey. You are FOOLED. :D :D :D :D :D

"My wife has her own opinions about lineups, but it's not about Novak. She doens't like rookies, either. Rookies mean mistakes, mistakes mean losses, losses mean getting fired, getting fired means no shopping. On this point, I agree with my wife"

I take this as JVG's reasoning not using rookie.
His logic is slightly flawed in that (rookie) mistakes mean losses. Rookie mistakes might mean lossses(if coach can manage well, that's not necessarily true), the playing time of rookies that brings about the inevitable rookie mistakes can however develop rookies to useful pieces which might translate to long term gain and wins as well.
In weighing the disadvantage and advantage of Rookies, esp we have a group that have potential but need some playing time to be confident, I think we can afford to play rookies here and there in spurts.

This is the 2nd time now that JVG has said he doesn't like rookies, but watch the JVG supporters will say he's being facetious. Vspan would still be glued to the bench if not for injury. Novak too, if not for that howard injury last game.
