I'm pretty sure JVG went off after the Knicks game. The guy relishes the opportunity to beat to a pulp his former team. It's obvious he was emotionally charged when he berated Yao.

As effective as this strategy works for some people, it is quite ineffective for other people and probably serves to emotionally disconnect the chastised person. I'm not a psychologist. If there is a psychologist on the board, please expand.

Let's see how Yao responds on the court before we start analyzing the strategy. It's hardly a new coaching tool.

We need someone to take Yao under his wing.

Tmac is not good for this role.

And Yao needs to grow up. He needs to be a men. Let the elbows fly Yao! Especially around people who plays dirty. JVG needs to let Yao know it's ok to get suspended. He needs other players to respect him. I feel even our own players don't respect him as a man. He needs to start removing the PUSS label quick.

Charvo, you have to realize that JVG is prepping him to act like a leader on this team. If not Yao, then McGrady.

It's a fact that Yao plays well a few games, then goes into a funk the next. It really doesn't matter what people tell him. Speak nice or tough. He still plays with this same pattern.

If we require this type of baby sitting then it's a problem. Yao has to grow up. He's not a kid anymore. The play-offs are NOT easy. They are ruthless! And our opponents will not hesitate letting Yao have it in the play-offs.

Remember, Yao need to earn his teammates respect. They wont follow if he can't lead.

If Yao is consistently cursed badly by the coach in front of everyone, how can Yao's teammates respect him?

To be fair, I am sure Yao's teamates get the business from JVG just like he does, therefore, Yao shouldn't respect them either. lol

Some of the greatest coaches in the history of sport have been some of the toughest on their players. I'm not defending those types of actions because I personally find them sad, but there is no debating the success of guys like Bill Parcells, Pat Riley, Doug Collins, Vince Lombardi and on and on - all of whom were VERY tough on their players.

Yao obviously hates Van Grumpy!!!

Time for Yao to go to Orlando to be with his friend SF, or to the Lakers to be back with Rudy.

    Van Grumpy destroyed SF
    Van Grumpy is destroying YM
    Van Grumpy will destroy TM

Why does Houston keep Van Grumpy???

    :D

    Beware!

...there are Golden State and Laker fans on this BBS.

It's in their best interest to try and *get* Yao.

Phil Jackson said it best when he said Yao will progress gradually as a basketball player. It can be interpreted that Phil Jackson was referring to all the aspects of a basketball players from the mental to the physical parts. JVG is obviously impatient. He wants to win and win now using what he considers to be a "winning" gameplan. JVG has some extreme insecurities about him being a coach in the NBA. What he is doing now is Napoleonic.

You think a bunch of millionaires in their twenties actually take this sh*t for real?!? Fans do, but not them! :D

All these cats have been gotten yelled at and humilated by coaches since middle school!!! This is nothing new for them. A lot of pro sports coaches don't know how else to motivate millionaire ballers except to cuss them out, toss **** around, bad mouth them, etc. How else are they gonna do to movitivate Yao, give him a gold-plated X-Box?!?! He probably got one already. I'm sure the coaches in China were just as harsh on Yao!!! :D

Yao whining about it is natural, but its all BS. I doubt he gives a sh*t about it. A bunch of guys with millions of dollars cussing at each other aint no big deal.

We all know Yao is a wimpy p***y and a mommas boy, but he aint mentally unbalanced and to demand rest to go promote a rap album, or go to Australia to smoke weed!! :D

If I were yao, I would say to JVG "**** you. If you continue to treat me this way, either you or I leave this team".

Yes, I kinda like the *win* thing, don't you? Kinda like a lot of impatient fans on this BBS!

By the way, criticizing Yao "in front of teammates" is part team sports, be it football, baseball or basketball. That's how it is for any team sports. They are all in it together! They win together and lose together. It's not like they are laughing at Yao. They want him to improve. Each player must realize that it's not personal. If you take it that way, then it will affect your play. Yao has to realize it's not personal. The whole team should be all on the same page. And all the players are fair game. Players should not be treated as a prima-donnas. The leaders must lead!

Also note that this is about us coming off of two bad losses a few days ago.

It will tell JVG it is not all Yao's fault. PFs underrebound, too.
