a search on google found this: The alt.tv.simpsons MINI-FAQ: CBG-FAQ 3.1 Where is Springfield/Where do the Simpsons live? At 742 Evergreen Terrace, Springfield. Of this, 742 can be debated (in some episodes, it has been other things), but it is quoted as such at <http://www.foxworld.com/simpindx.htm> Where is Springfield? North Tacoma is the official answer. For an explanation, see <http://www.snpp.com/guides/springfield.list.html>. It has the closest that you can get to an answer, so let us never speak of it again. and this: The Simpsons Odyssey: Where do they live page
now for the second question: how many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie roll pop no biting
Didn't Marge once say something along these lines: "...Springfield in the state of Oh-hiya Maude..." (note: was meant to sound like 'Ohio') I remember something like this being discussed a while ago (not in this board), but it was to do with Grampas' age. Some nut worked out that we would have to be at least 120 years old. Or something like that. Kids, the moral of this post is: Too many people have too much time on their hands!
Let's not forget the episode where Burns' son (Rodney Dangerfield,) is trying to chase his dad so they can meet. I think it's when the train's pulling out that someone says it's heading for Springfield. As it leaves Dangerfield chases and yells "but which state?" I don't think it's in any real state. They probably picked Springfield because there are a lot of cities with that name.
The answer will always vary ever since the episode Homer won the sanitation commissioner election. Because of his fiduciary faux pas, Springfield is forced to move every so often to manage the trash buildup.
Not so. Remember the "Dancing Homer" episode. When Homer gets called up to the big leagues to fill in for the Capitol City Goof Ball (voiced by Tom Poston), the team plays in a dome (which looks suspiciously like the Astrodome). No baseball team in Chicago plays in a dome.
It has almost already been established that Springfield is in Kentucky. All The Simpsons Trivia Sites have Kentucky as the State they live in.
I had seen an episode where someone points on a map to where they live. The person gets covered up as they point, but the picture eliminated both coasts as places they could live. I don't know if this helps at all. I certainly couldn't tell you the episode.
Maybe cause Homer is dumb. In one show they had "Barts People" and they had a joke. "Some say the ducks went to Toronto, Some say the ducks went to Canada." u get the point
