I'm curious about something. If you HATE Friends so much and, as a result, never watch it, why would you care if it was on TV or not? Isn't that why God* made remotes? "God" is an officially licensed term used with permission from the General Electric Corporation. All rights reserved.
I'm not sure how a man who actually admits to liking Mr. Belvedere (and places it as #3 on his all-time sitcoms list) can actually criticize people for liking Friends.
It's because everywhere you go and everyone you know is talking about that last show. They even talked about it on Sportscenter the other day. Even if you hate the show, you still can't escape it.
That is the exact same thing that is always done when any extremely successful show is put to rest. Dont you remember the major media event that was Seinfeld's finale? Fraiser would have been similarly big if not for being a week after friends. In a day and age of media and internet where the slightest thing get magnified to the 100th power, how does this surprise you?
I don't think he's surprised, he was just explaining how "just change the channel" sometimes isn't a viable option.
Simpsons Friends Seinfeld just isn't funny to me. Neither is Curb Your Enthusiasm, aka Seinfeld with cussing.
Seinfeld is my favorite, but Simpson's is perhaps unrivaled in terms of shows you can watch any time, and also possibly for quotes. Friends...beh. Was funny for a year or two, Jennifer Aniston had a nice bod and showed it off a lot, but over time the writing became so stale I haven't watched an episode in years. I have seen parts when the roomies were watching, and the funniest thing was that Joey, the character ( along with Phoebe) I used to like the least, was the only character to seem funny any more lately, whereas Phoebe had a similar effect to the thought of chewing on tinfoil.
1. Seinfeld 2. Newsradio 3. Scrubs 4. 70s show 5. Fresh Prince 6. Friends 7. Simpsons 8. Married with Children That's it. That's the list.
Tough call between Simpsons and Seinfeld, but I'll go with the Simpsons. Both are shows I can watch over and over and over. I don't dislike Friends, but it's far behind both of those shows.
