    I second this. Keep Martin.

I love the advanced stats as much as anyone, but even I will admit that there's more to success on the offensive side of the floor than TS%. The attention that teams allocate to a player like Carmelo differs significantly from the attention Martin receives.

I have zero doubt that swapping out Martin -for- Carmelo in the offense would mean three things:

    1. Carmelo would carry a greater offensive load than Martin.
    2. He wouldn't be as efficient.
    3. The team would be more potent.

For me, the question is and will continue to be the frontcourt. Carmelo rightfully gets a lot of credit in Denver, but the contributions on defense that the Nuggets have gotten from guys like Martin, Nene, and Anderson have always been severely underrated.

This season is all about Yao Ming. even if the Rockets could land Carmelo.

I have serious reservations about Melo, I don't believe he is the kind of player you can build around.

I think he is a great scorer, and little else....

All the great players are multi dimensional....Melo is flat....he is 2D, we need a 3D player.....

I agree. That is why Martin is not in the discussion for this trade.

I would take Melo's offense over Brooks' offense. You get more production and more efficiency from Melo, which will in turn make Yao and Martin absolutely lethal.

If Melo is a 2d player, then Brooks is a 1d player. Brooks is a shooter, that's it. He's not an efficient finisher, does not draw fouls, does not distribute as well as Melo does........considering how much time the ball is in his hands as compared to Melo, and he's not a defender. Melo can do a little bit of all those things, plus draw a ton of fouls and be much more efficient offensively.

I am stunned at the results of this poll. I never knew rockets fans were so in love with K-Mart.......to the point that they aren't willing to give him up for arguably one of the best players in the NBA besides Lebron and Kobe.

I like Martin and I'm anxious to see what he can bring this year since he's apparently feeling much better, but this is a no-brainer.

If it takes Martin to get Melo, of COURSE you do it.

Not a single GM in the league would even blink at the idea of trading Martin for Melo. You have to give to get. Martin is a small price to pay for Melo.

    Daryl Morey is blinking.

And all the other GMs are also pulling back on their top level young talent.....I see a trend here.

If 28 ppg and 6 rebounds is the "same production" as 20 ppg and 3 rebounds, then Rafer Alston gives "roughly the same production" as Brooks.

In a straight up trade it would be silly not to trade Martin for Anthony, assuming Anthony signs an extension. Martin plus several other assets might be more questionable, it just depends on the specifics.

The other teams don't have anybody else on their roster other than their young top level talent.

Other than Favors and Lopez, who does NJ have?

Other than Noah, who is reasonable to trade to Denver? Nuggets already have a franchise player in Rose and have a top 5 PF in Boozer. Bulls really don't need him.

NY has crap because they can't get a draft pick from any team.

They're pulling their top level young talent because they have nothing else on their roster.

We have like 5 top level young talent that we could offer Denver.

    Brooks
    Hill
    Budinger
    Patterson
    Martin

I hope you are not going to be dissappointed when we don't get him.

You have no idea what Morey or any other GM is doing and neither does anybody else except Denver.

If it takes a very good player to get a great one, you do it every time.

You keep saying that Melo doesn't bring much more than Martin. Here's what he brings (that Martin most definitely doesn't): he's the guy we give the ball to at the end of the game who can make something happen. That's the guy we don't have. When you don't have that guy and you have the chance to get him, there's no one player you don't give up to do it.

No. I would not include K-Mart in a trade for Melo. Because I do not want Kenyon Martin on the Rockets.

Yes I would, even though i love K-mart but Melo is a superstar. Lee is a descent SG in the NBA, our line up would be:

    Brooks
    Lee
    Melo
    Scola
    Yao

    That would be scary.

Pippen cannot be included in the same sentence with the other two names mentioned when it comes to hardwork. Pippen earned his stripes through a great work ethic and tremendous hard work.

homerism at its finest. kmart for melo, that's a no-brainer in morey's eyes. he would do that and kneel down to denver's GM and still says thanks.
