    hmm

other teams got better by adding talent through the draft.

rockets want to try to make playoffs for another first round exit, but cant because other teams got better through draft.

why don't the rockets try getting better through the draft?

How exactly does the league being significantly better than it was 4-5 years ago explain the Rockets being much worse than they were just last season?

This team is not bad because of other people. We are just like Adelman's Sacramento teams now. We can run up leads of 10+ on anyone in the league. Unlike Adelman's Sacramento teams, however, we don't know how to step on anyone's neck. No one fears us; they know that somewhere along the line their time will come, when everyone on the team suffers a collective mental fart, when toughness becomes a forgotten word, when people start blaming each other for their missed defensive assignments.

This team is inconsistent, and right now that means this team is bad. I wish there was an easy solution, but right now it seems to be an issue with the team's culture. We might not be able to fix that until the offseason.

No I'm pretty sure the Rockets are much worse than last year because they not only traded away their best defender but also made their weakest position weaker with the same move.

You know the Rockets are in trouble when Brad Miller is 3rd on the team in (total) points scored. Courtney Lee is 4th and Baddier is 5th.

The Rockets aren't sneaking up on anyone any more like they were at this time last season because teams around the league know the weaknesses of their's to exploit, simple as that.

As far as building thru the draft is concerned, I would just forget about doing it next June if anything.

Sorry, this doesn't make any sense at all. This is Simmons pulling some theory out of his ass. The talent level of the league may be improving with the influx of talent, but it doesn't explain the difference over the span of less than one year between last year's hard nosed Rox that eked out 42 wins and this year's weak imitation.

The difference in talent in the league over one year is basically the rookies. Besides Wall and Griffin, there are no rookies that are making that big of a difference for their teams. And we've only faced Wall. If he made the argument that over a 4-5 year period that the Rox are falling behind, then that might be more plausible, but it makes no sense for a 1 year change this drastic. Occam's razor: We're just badder.

The main difference I see between last year and this year from a personnel perspective that can possibly account for this difference are adding Martin and Lee and subtracting Ariza. I put it on Martin. And as much as it was painful to watch Ariza try to be the man on offense, it's more painful watching Martin escort his man straight to the hoop whenever he wants to get a lay-up.

I agree with you man. I like Simmons but this theory of his is bull. I think the Rockets just need some stability, consistency, and defense. Most of all, we need Yao and Brooks back. I think most of the problems can be solved once they return and Yao is taken off his minutes limit.

Gooder? Whos is this? Junior Bush? Is he goodifying the sports columns too?

Seriously, Isn't Simmons the punk from ESPN who almost had an Orga*m ON tv when the rumour floats that LeBron was going to NY? I think that's the idiot. Get over Knicks lover, you lost and that was in 1994. Lick your wound and shut up.

Why do that when you can "win now" by trading for the Shane Battiers of the world?
