Jeremiah sounds like a Whiney stuck up rich kid.

I don't like the Rivers family.

Never really cared for him as a player, analyst or coach.

With Bill on this one. Having watched Danny talk about the whole ordeal did make it seem shady on Doc's side. Not in a overall bad way but it did see like he flip-flopped his position but at the end of the day you just have politics and people trying to uphold their own ass in all this. Doc doesn't want to seem like the bad guy, as does Danny.

I think the point is that Doc Rivers has yet to admit this, and he's been pretty disingenuous about the whole process. He's going about all these interviews like he's as shocked as anyone that he's not coaching the Celtics anymore. In reality, it sounds like he played a major role in facilitating his move to L.A.

Simmons is right: If you don't want to rebuild, that's fine...Just own up to it.

Man they all lie all the time. Big deal. SVG said he wanted to spend time with family but we know that wasnt the truth.

If Doc desired to coach in LA and gave up 35 mil to do so, who's to complain? The way teams fire coaches like its no big deal im surprised more coaches don't try moving around.

Simmons is just butt hurt that the C's are going into the cellar and I think the shock of it finally was realized when Doc wanted to bounce.

The problem here is Rivers basically been piggy backing on the Celts big 3 all this time, and he got paid a ridiculous amount of money for it. People give crap about Jackson always coaching a contender, but his dynasties were only possible because PJ developed young guys into stars like Pippen and Kobe. And more importantly he always delivered the goods and made good on his contending teams, 5 rings with Lakers 6 rings with Bulls.

Rivers oth had Pierce, Rondo, Allen, KG and Perkins together and only 1 ring to show for it. Even worse, he won his ring with Tom Thibideau designing the D and couldn't do jack squat after TT left. Inspite it all, he got a big fact contract, and now he's essentially trying to weasel out of it and go to a contender wherein he can just sit on his ass again instead of actually developing guys.

I'm with Simmons on this one, but honestly the Celts are better off without Rivers. Dude couldn't even develop his son.

The world will get ready to see how overrated Doc Rivers is. He should thank his lucky stars he had KG with gas in his tank and a real Head Coach in Tom T. I mean what Tom has done with the Bulls is incredible to win a playoff series against the Nets is unreal. Tom was the backbone of their finals run that year all Doc did was cry to the Refs.

Doc didn't give up any money to coach in LA. He has the same contract and same number of years he had in Boston. So I have no idea what you're talking about here.

Also, NBA coach salaries are fully guaranteed. This isn't like most workers, where getting fired/laid off means no more monthly checks coming in.

Meaning Boston is not liable for the money man come on

Not that it matters to me but I think its being blown into a bigger deal than it needs to.

Simmons is right. Just own to the fact you wanted out, just don't act the victim.

I remember the Doc Rivers that coached the Magic. He was overrated as a player and coach.

Simmons is pissed because he doesn't know what happened & since Doc won't tell him he decided to fill in the blanks. Simmons comes off as a know-it-all a$$hole who's whining because his favorite team is about to be bad. He should just let it go.

Name a coach in the history of the NBA that won a title without great players. TT didn't have Rose & he took his lumps. Gotta have horses, PERIOD.

Hahaha what an awful example. By pretty much all accounts the Bulls overachieved under Thibs this year.

Doc's gotten better, but he's presided over some terrible teams and was an average coach at best during his early tenure in Boston.

What has Simmons said that you specifically disagree with, and why?

Doc Rivers is the highest paid coach in the league. That means he's THE BEST. (Or really it just means, he had a great circumstance, good agent and cashed in)

I've never liked how Rivers EVERY offseason goes "undecided over his future" mulling it over, getting showed the attention and respect, and then coming back for another run. Even though he was making empty threats of leaving to keep the Celts organization on its toes so they get the contending pieces, it does make him look like a flip flopper.
