This may sound crazy, but I think there’s a chance Silas is back next season. I’m just being honest, it’s very possible
Unfortunately, I agree. Every year, we have something to tank. This year for Wanbenyama, next year may high school players could be drafted etc... We have 7 first rounders in 2 years, and 2 of them are top 3 selections. They are young ok. But an average coach could reach at least .400 w/l We are still worst team in the NBA. Everyone calls us "losers"...Tanking is pathethic. (Ok maybe it is needed sometimes. But not more than 2 years) It harms winning culture, name, and history of the Team. Also i fed up with losing. I really hate, and miss Play-Off Rockets. Anyway we all know that Silas is the best tank commender of all time. So u are right. Because We seem to continue tanking more and more.
On the Nate thing, they said Nate's job was safe after the Trae incident. But that lasted until the ATL GM ("his protector") was asked to move to an advisory role. After new GM enters, we get the above Athletic article "Since general manager Landry Fields became the Hawks’ lead front-office executive last week, there have been only positive conversations with McMillan about the direction of the team this season, league sources said. No resignation from McMillan is imminent, sources with knowledge of the team’s thinking said." On this board (and other places), people started speculating if Trae might leave. Trae's dad tweeted NO. And this is their organization's response. An awkward way of firing Nate without immediately say it. (a player just ran his head coach out of town). Nate inherited Lloyd Pierce's system, but like Lloyed the Hawks team is still a .500 team. Spending all those picks for Dejounte didn't get the immediate improvement. Trae's efficiency dipped this year; plus frustration and butting heads with Nate led them here. ...as far as impact to the Rockets, if Hawks get an interim, and switch head coach in summer. It means we'd have competition switching our head coach in the summer too. ATL could take some of desirable candidates off the board (this includes assistants too). On the Rocket end, I'm not too high on Nate, although if Lloyed Pierce was available as an assistant, that wouldn't be too shabby. But Carlisle has him for the Pacers and promoted Lloyd to lead assistant. I don't see Pierce leaving unless offered a head coaching position. People used to say Silas might serve as development coach, then we switch to another regime once we ready for playoffs. Based on current observations, looks like Rockets still need development coaches; a new crop. Atkinson (developed Jarred Allen), Snyder (developed Donovan and Rudy, made Gobert look much more useful than he is), and you can add Lloyd Pierce to that list (for unlocking Trae, can start adding Haliburton's growth to that résumé). Ideally we may want to do this before Jalen Green's class is eligible for rookie extension (after 2023-24 season). You want to know if your sophomores is slump, is it because the coaching is not enough, or if the players is not growing enough. If the system needs a rim running big, do you keep Sengun or get a different head coach that can give you a different system. I know Jabari's been missing open 3pt shots. Part of me is thinks some of this is our shooting coaches. They might have told him to change things. Whatever it is. Could have F'ed up Jabari's shot. It could get back on its own; or we get different coaches in here. Development time is precious, we can't be wasting time. If the SAT tutors for your kids are good but not great, you get new tutors. Rockets should be acting with an internal deadline in mind. This is also why the vet PG (or Harden for two years) is enticing because, that's a stop-gap. The PG can run a functioning system, if the head coach can't immediately get the young players up to par.
If we’re bad next year, he’d definitely be gone during the season. I believe the leash would be a lot shorter then
Trae will whine til he gets what he wants. All indication is that he's a little b****, he plays that way too. Hawks really fumbled their future with that little idiot. They coulda had Luka and ended up with a little egotistical brat foul merchant that puts Prime Houston Harden to shame many times over. He's what ive been afraid of KPJ turning into.
rockets wasting resources and playing time like theres no tommorow...thats why tanking never works...low iq franchises will waste any talent infusion...talent is never problem for poor franchises, resources management is...
Very possible. In the end the coaching change will be Tillman’s call and we just don’t know what he’ll be motivated to do. Tim McMahon seems to indicate that he’s the type of owner that does have a low amount of patience and can often want changes for the sake of having them so maybe that helps the cause. I think Tillman would want to make a splash though. Not sure who really does that. For sure though everyone should brace themselves a bit for this reality.
Gordon still dribbles the ball off his foot out of bounds, he’s quit being a defender and never runs back in transition …. He goes through the motions… so nope no improvement
But in reality it’ll untimely mean “waive me now” which means he’ll be signed only to a vet min deal and then his value moving forward is vet min guy on a contender. Stone has done him dirty for sure and ultimately is to blame for stupidly not taking the best he could get the last two years. This is ultimately on him, but we can’t act like EG has no agency here. The guy no longer attacks the rim because he’s afraid for whatever reason and it just makes him look 1 dimensional, old, lazy, and stat patting. His D is still solid but nothing special. I don’t see him getting 3 steals a night or shutting down anyone. So yeah… the message is trade me now but under the circumstance he has 100% contributed to, it really means waive me and let me go finish my career as a vet min guy.
