28 Oct - L 111-125 to POR "We weren’t doing what we were supposed to do…(Nurkic) is a big guy and, um, you know, we were a little bit smaller…they started getting him right in the paint which was impossible for us to double team or help."
He sounds like a puppy that has been beaten again and again. It's sad and he is about to burst into tears.
Tate/Sengun/Smith played behind Nurkic on the low box with no help. I guess the plan was to flop before he could make his move. Before most shots, he dribbled 2 or 3 times. Impossible for us to double team or help, yep. Eason thought about a double team once. Sharpe got that monster dunk because there is zero communication. I guess the coach said, "It's impossible to double team. Let's not let that happen again."
Just want to appreciate the OP for this thread. It's really telling when the coach sounds basically basketball illiterate and/or helpless.
Thats what zone defense is for you dumbass. But i understand you never trained it with the roster probably
let me elaborate when you have a guy like Nurkić, or any other big, you can get away with even a simple 2-3 zone with Sengun under the basket, Garuba/Eason, and Jabari in the back wings, and two mobile and tall guards/forwards up front. I would probably choose KPJ paired with Eason or Jalen with EG(so we have a ballhandler). You then double him ON CATCH with the defender facing his back to make pass out of double difficult. Offensively You have to play tough defense and run forward with your upfront guards. If it isn't working, you can run pick and roll with Garuba, who would have to make passes out of the roll with Sengun in the dunking spot. With the 5 with Eason instead of Garuba, you have perfect spacing and can run the offense through high post Sengun. Yes, some of the rotations give you worse spacing than usual, but at this point, the offense is the minor thing you should worry about since it stinks anyway since you run a freelance with 20yo kids in the NBA. You should start fixing the team with defense where we are ****ing atrocious and looking at our coach's decisions it is clear why. Garuba Sengun are Europeans so they are very familiar with these defenses since they teach us these schemes from junior high, and Jabari/Tari are from defensive-minded college teams. EG is og he saw it all too. It seems it would fit the players But yeah, let's play 5-0 iso offense with no schemes on either side of the ball ps. I wonder how much Lucas has to do with it since he is the only constant since couple of years while we run this stinking iso ****. The last time we played real basketball was first CP year, matter of fact first half of that season
30 Oct - L 109-124 to PHX (When asked what went wrong in the 4th quarter) “ (The Suns) have been to the mountain top, you know, they’ve been in the Finals, they’ve been together for a long time. They know how to, uh, like they know every counter when you are fighting, they know you’re gonna switch out and they’ll slip, or whatever. But as hard as we fought, we were just saying that the scores definitely don’t indicate how close this game was. “
LOL This guy is a loser of the highest order. “Fought super duper hard and the score shows how close it was!” Are we running a kids YMCA team? 3 years of historically bad losing, bad culture, bad habits and they’re supposed to just flip the switch next year when they owe their pick to OKC? Bragging about the $60M cap space, who the hell wants to sign with this team, with this coach?
Nice thread. I can't stand listening to this loser so I wouldn't know what he's saying. Truly pathetic but also quite funny.
31 Oct - L 93-95 to LAC (On not double teaming Paul George at the end) “Eric has been doing a great job on him all night, all night. So I trust him in that situation. Eric pressured him, pressured him. He had to dribble, dribble, dribble, get to the fadeaway over a high hand. Eric did a great job.” (On Rockets’ late game execution) “Pretty good, pretty good, in the last little bit. I subbed Alpy out towards the end because I kept going at the high pick and roll so I put KJ in but we still executed pretty well down the stretch of the game.”
2 Nov - L 101-109 to LAC (On where can discipline come from with this group) “That’s a good question. I mean, (pause), yeah, we, we continue to do it, try to make more play calls at the beginning, um, yeah, I just have to watch film and figure it out.” (On why turnovers happen) “Sometimes it’s someone try to do, try to, like, help, you know, try to do a little too much. Sometimes over penetration and turning the ball over, sometimes it’s execution. Unfortunately for a young team, it’s not surprising.” (On whether winning would help solve the issue) “Maybe winning would help, but, I think experience would help us a little bit more.”
5 Nov - L 117-129 to MIN (On turnovers) "Once they started switching so early in the game they weren't switching and um we were getting the ball moving and then they started switching and that's when the ball stopped moving quite as much."
