Sikh student kicked off Amtrak for refusing to part with ceremonial dagger

    "Religious symbol". Why doesn't he carry a photograph of a blade in his wallet, if its just for symbolic purposes?

    I respect the man's faith, but yeah, there's nothing controversial here. It might be ceremonial, but it is still a knife. It's up to him to find the work-around, not Amtrak. He should carry a knife that doesn't have a blade that can cut or puncture if he wants to carry the thing around all over the place.

    First I find it sad that we have to be paranoid about safety. A few bad apples have ruined it for everyone. I understand that it is a very important religious symbol and they do not view it as a weapon. However it is a weapon and Amtrak was right enforcing their policy.

    What was "proven exactly the opposite?"
