The solution the US has come up with involves scanners than can see what you look like naked as well as extensive groping by TSA employees. It's awesome!

    FranchiseBlade, are you a Sikh?

Sounds like you are when you're so fervent about defending such an irrational cause.

Any Bus or train company can do whatever the heck they want, I support this decision, if the guy needs to carry a dagger then he can find his own way.

If I owned a resteraunt or bar, he wouldn't be allowed in with that thing either.

Screw religious beliefs....that does not give you special rights.

last year, after setting off the metal detector at the airport, I was taken to a private room and had a male TSA employee run the back of his hand over my bulge. It was unpleasant.

    Randomness.

Terrorists aren't stupid. They know this the same as you do. As was said above, you'd be terrible at protecting anyone. Terrorists would play you like a fiddle.

Give up the dagger. If you have to carry it everywhere you go, perhaps the US isn't for you. Otherwise, I'm starting a bowie knife religion. ;)

Or this could happen, so the knife may be inconsequential. :)

Make the searches random, so that any person regardless of what they look like can be searched. Terrorists can't get around that by shaving their beards, using women, dressing like women, dressing like orthodox Jewish folks, or anything else. Anybody has the chance of being searched.

It's not what I've come up with, it's what the people who are professionals at security came up with. Israel also has plenty of other methods they use for their situation.

I don't think you've read my posts. I said that the person should not have been allowed to carry a knife onto the bus.

I wasn't defending him doing that at all. I only said that him not being allowed to carry a knife should not at all be based on whether or not he wore a turban or had a beard. Instead it should be based on the fact that he was trying to carry a knife onto the bus.

(random) searches for all or searches for none. Selective or random searches are both flawed, but as you suggest singling out a specific group of people has its workarounds. The Tsarnaev brothers weren't turban-wearing, knife carrying terrorists. No, they were largely integrated into American society and were young, clean-shaven ****sticks. At the time of Hasan Nidal's attack on Ft Hood he looked like a clean shaven American soldier.

In fact, finding the girl or boy next door to do the bidding of Al Queda is exactly how to instill terror in the American public. You have to believe this is on their to-do list. How could it not be?

Your self professed intellectual superiority proves exactly the opposite.

    Its a safety hazard.

Whether the person wears a turban or not, is religious or not, it shouldn't give them fewer rights when it comes to the safety of others - but also not more.

Religious people should be free to practice their religion - as long as it doesn't interfere with the basic rights of others to safety. It's funny how some people derive a sense of entitlement from believing in something or belonging to a group that believes in something.

So let me get this straight, it's okay to have guns on college campuses and in classrooms but it's not okay to have a religious symbol on a bus?
