Their music is just flat out beautiful. I have to say that I'm just now learning more about them. "Hoppipolla" is a masterpiece in my opinion. Other songs that I really like by them are "glosoli", "saeglopur", "olsen olsen", "ara batur", and "hljomalind". Jonsi (guitar + vocals) also did the music for the movie "we bought a zoo", and it's incredible. As I said I'm just now learning more about these guys so please chime in with your favorite songs or whatever else you'd like to share about this amazing band.
saw them live at Verizon in 2003 or 2004 and it was one of the most amazing shows that I have ever seen.
Welcome to 2002. Kidding. I was at that Verizon show in the fourth row, and it was indeed spectacular. They're coming back in April.
Presale for the show in Austin happened this morning. Unfortunately, they're playing at the Cedar Park Center up here. But, that shouldn't diminish the concert one too much.
This is why I love CF. It gives me an opportunity to listen to stuff i would otherwise never be exposed to.
I use soundcloud for my u/ls. I was at that show and it was the one that made me want to get back into playing music after being a dad for 3 or 4yrs.
will definitely check them out in April. Blake I'd love to hear that concert. Will you be putting it on soundcloud?
I was wondering if anyone could help. I'm not familiar with the Bayou Music Center seating arrangement. Is the Floor General Admission seating area just a standing room only? I'm looking to purchase tickets to the show and was wondering why the price varies for GA if there is no assigned seating. Thanks.
Saw them at the Ryman on Valentine's Day in 2006; still probably the best live show I have ever seen. Favorite song is a toss-up between "Saeglopur" and "Popplagio" (the last track on "( )"). But everything they have done is great, IMO. the shark - you may want to check out Jonsi's solo album "Go" as it is very upbeat Sigur Ros music but still worthy, nonetheless.
I like their sound but I like a little edge to my post rock. They still amaze me on the depth of their music.
going to see them this a week from now. just hope ill be off this drilling rig. they only come to south east asia once every never ever!
If you like Sigur Ros, you should check out their documentary "Heima". From their 2006 tour of Iceland. Full version here on Youtube. Quality is pretty decent, but not fully at HD level as the DVD. (also available on torrents) <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/AotZiyzsVjQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Full screen. Lights out. Smoke a blunt. Watch. Return back in an hour and a half a happier and calmer person.
