Good point. I almost forgot that we traded for Jackson before Yao went down. It wouldn't have made much sense for us to give up on the season when we've just won 10 games in a row and (presumably) both Yao and T-Mac would be available for the stretch run.
I can dig that. Was pg depth more important than wing depth? I'm not saying they gave up, but of all the deadline trades, it was clear that it wasn't a get better move. The spurs traded Barry because it was more important to get depth on the frontline than to have a another wing player because they had finley, manu, udoka, and bowen for 2 spots. Its all good.
Not exactly. The Rockets (as do the Hornets) would have had Wells' Early Bird Rights which must be for a minimum of 2 years. In theory, the Rockets could have SnT'd Wells for MLE $ which is going to be close to $6m. The stickler in all of this is what Wells is worth because there is a huge range between nearly single-handedly beating the Spurs and Wells' Hornets playoffs. I'm going to find it VERY interesting what can be obtained for BJax. Especially since IMHO his presence delayed Brooks' growth. Neither could stop Deron Williams in the playoffs but at least Brooks give us some transition O.
From the sound of it DM the GM believes BJax = this season's Gasol (opportunity). I, too, will believe it when I see it.
So if we tried doing the SnT, the other team would have to take on at least 2 years of salary for Bonzi? There's no way to turn him into an expiring contract? I'm not sure what we could get out of that. We'd have James and Wells owed a combine 20+ million over the next 2 years, saddling us. Maybe I'm missing something.
Bonzi did not play one playoff game for the Houston Rockets in the 2 years he was here(1 in a half really).I think he could of helped us alot,I still remember that game where he absoultly destroyed us after we traded him.Its not gonna happen, but I would welcome him back with open arms.
Bonzi, Marbury - most any notable vet for the minimum - I'm game. Possible upside vs investment makes it a no brainer....
The Clippers will definetly offer Bonzi a two year deal for $6 million now that they lost on Kelenna Azabuike...
Morey might pull the trigger on this one, bringing in Bonzi as second tier coming of the bench works great last year. Not to mention, he drop 25 pts against his old team after the trade. Do you remember!! Bonzi is a very smart veteran player that this franchise really needed.
