I would like to see A Williams here. He is a blue collar guy. We could definitely use a blue collar guy.

Yao, PJ Brown, Odom, Francis, A. Williams

I REALLY like that lineup! Not sure how those players would be acquired but that lineup looks great on paper! Yao and Francis are the star players. Odom is the 3rd star type of player and Brown and Williams are the complimentary role players for the team.

    Great lineup!

Here's how to get them :

    Cat and Eddie for Odom
    Rice for Brown
    Taylor or Cato for Williams

You may have to add a player here or there to make things work, but that's do-able.

Cat and Eddie are cheap. They appeal to Sterling, they score, they sell tix. Must convince Odom to leave to play Magic J. role with M/F. Shouldn't be too hard a sell.

PJ Brown is a free agent. He will need more than the MCE. Attempt the wink 1 year, or S&T Rice, or Cato/Taylor.

Toronto needs frontcourt help and cap relief. Rice, or Cato/Taylor. They will draft a good player. A.Williams may move in shake up to get VC help. Ideally, we send them Taylor - who gives scoring help they need in the front line, and we get back Williams and Mo Pete, who's on the outs there.

I think we have enough pieces to make deals. We should look for these kind of complimentary role players. Odom is # 1 on my list.

    Needs

    PF - enforcer./backup C
SF - tall wingman. pass, set up, all around player. # 1 feed MF
PG - Tall defender to help Steve, shoots 3, alternate feed to MF.

Ming - owns low post. Supported by enforcer. Must operate strong, show moves, see floor, return ball to open scorer on opportunity. Can fade to high post if packed down low and rain jumpers. Helper will rebound.

SF - Free to attack. stop and pop. can get picks from 1,3,4,5. Should be aggressive, show his strength, move without ball to allow MIng, Odom, WIlliams to hit him for dunk, stop/pop, even cross/pop. 1 dribble, please.

    Ahhhhhhhh,

Williams and Mo Pete for MoT. Now that sounds like a winner.................for the Rockets. I wonder how Toronto feels about MoT. I don't think they'd do it.

They would probably do Cato, Eddie, and Cat for Williams, MoPete, and Antoine.

That would leave us with AW, Stevie, MoPete, Yao, and Antoine. Interesting lineup.

I'd still prefer to get Brand and Odom and keep Cat.

    That line up looks good but this one wins just as many or more games;

    Ming
    P.J. Brown
    Posey/Nachbar/Morris
    Francis
    A. Williams

and we will have a better bench because we didn't have to trade for Odom. We don't need Odom and nobody ever trades any of our FOUR SF in their dreamcasting except Rice. If we can get rid of Moochie and Taylor or Eddie to get the above lineup we had a sweet offseason.

The "wink 1 year" will not work.

Notice how the Shandon wink 2 year and Mo wink 1 year matured at the same summer when the free agents knew we would have the Dream cap windfall.

Unless you are a team that is destined to land a cap windfall...like Utah, you can't do wink deal while over the cap.

WE dont need any players that are over the Hill! We dont need players with only one or two years left in their productive life. We need young experienced players that can be with the Rockets for many years and that are an improvement for our team!

Okay...that lineup would be great. But Cat AND Eddie for Odom? Heck no! Only Cuttino and maybe Terence Morris or a 2nd round pick or Lamar Odom.
Glen Rice and a 2nd round pick for PJ Brown.

Morris Peterson and Alvin Williams would be awesome.

When did you become a Cippers fan? No Rockets fan in his/her right mind would give up Cat and EG to get Odom.

To be honest, I prefer McInnis. Alvin Williams is more of a scorer, less of a defender, and will cost WAY more. Also, his contract is long, and possibly not worth it.

McInnis is one year at 4M. Blue Collar, hits the 3 consistently, BRILLIANT asst-TO ratio, and plays great D.

McInnis is a better option IMO.

SLA, how convenient was it to take Jeff McInnis' worst season and Alvin Williams' best? lol

This isn't a competition man, we're all trying to improve the Rockets.

Alvin Williams is only one inch taller than McInnis, but he's a better defender and his asst-to ratio is better. Those are the main things we're looking for in our PG.

Alvin Williams used to be a SG, and although he's adjusted well, he still needs his shots and is a scorer. Being 4th option? He won't go for that, common. Francis and Ming as the MAIN scorers, Odom as the 3rd, complimentary scorer, PJ Brown and Jeff McInnis as the dirty work guys with experience who we can ALWAYS count on.

Remember, Odom needs a decent amount of shots as well. He'snot a main scorer, but he needs some shots. Alvin Williams would surely demand mroe shots than McInnis would, and really, having too many scorers is a problem we're trying to get rid of.

    Ming
    PJ Brown
    Odom
    Francis
    McInnis

And what's this about Rice for PJ Brown? Wink-wink deals for PJ Brown? PJ Brown will only be offered the MLE this offseason, our only problem is if the Lakers offer it to him, in which case he's gone.

    LOL...well I meant Brian Grant. :)

But Brian Grant...I don't really want him. He will get older and older and his play will worsen. But he would be all right for a while...and we can hope that Eddie emerges into a star.

If we bring in Odom, well then Bostjan Nachbar wouldn't get to play. We wouldn't have to resign Posey...but we could. Nachbar...well if he really is a bust and sucks, then bringing in Odom would be good for Cuttino Mobley. But not for Cuttino and Eddie.

Maybe Nachbar can play backup 3 and 2?

So how would we get McInnis? Signing him for MLE? I would do it...

    McInnis/Francis/Norris
    Francis/Nachbar
    Odom/Nachbar/Morris/Rice
    Griffin/Taylor/Morris/Cato
    Yao/Cato/Griffin

Our team would be OK next year. But in three years, when Nachbar and Griffin have emerged as stars...and Yao is dominating...and Francis is getting it....and Odom is playing at his best...the Rockets will be good.

Hmm...if Nachbar sucks, then we can resign Posey.

    Francis - 24 ppg, 8 apg, 7 rpg, 2 spg, 2.5 turnovers
    Griffin - 18 ppg, 8 rpg, 2 bpg, 1 apg, 1 spg
    Yao - 18 ppg, 9 rpg, 2 bpg, 2 apg
    Odom - 16 ppg, 8 rpg, 6 apg, 1 spg, 1 bpg
    Nachbar - 14 ppg, 5 rpg, 1 apg, 1 spg, 1 bpg

    That would be nice!

I wasn't saying that he was going to make us better or that he would be a great fit for our team. All I was saying was that he is a good kid and he's gotten a bad rap...

You know me and you know how I feel about the game. I want an enforcer like you do. Give me a Jon Berry, Ben Wallace, a young Otis Thorpe, young Mario Ellie. Thats what we need. We need blue collar players.

    Email me the pictures bro...

A big benefit to McInnis with Odom is that they have already played together. I'd ask Lamar if he wants to again, but as I recall, they were a good team; in fact they were more efficient together than Miller/Odom. That eases the transition with the new players considerably. McInnis/Odom know each other and Ming/Francis know each other.

So, I have no problem with McInnis. I'm not certain what it takes to get him. Portland is looking to blow that team up, and prolly wants to unload some $$. Rice might be the ticket to pick up a good player and McInnis. They're not takers for Taylor/Cato or Cat or EG, really. They already have Bonzi and Anderson and Zach and Davis and Wallace. I wouldn't mind picking up Antonio Daniels who could take Moochie's job. I'd love to force them to take Mooch as part of the Rice deal. Derek Anderson would have trouble getting shots with Francis at the 2, but would otherwise fit the Clips/Rox combo.

McInnis is much less attractive without Odom, and Odom's blessing.

Tweaking is not what the Rockets need. We are not good enough to just tweak ourselves a bit. We need some magor changes. Here is a trade that helps out multible teams and only includes players that need to be included. Meaning there are no fillers and stuff like Doleac just to have stuff in the trade.

Golden State trades: PF Danny Fortson (3.5 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 0.7 apg in 13.1 minutes)
SG Jason Richardson (15.6 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 3.0 apg in 32.9 minutes)
PF Troy Murphy (11.7 ppg, 10.2 rpg, 1.3 apg in 31.8 minutes)
PG Gilbert Arenas (18.3 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 6.3 apg in 35.0 minutes)
Golden State receives: PF Maurice Taylor (8.4 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 1.0 apg in 20.6 minutes)
SF Lamar Odom (14.6 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 3.6 apg in 34.3 minutes)
PG Andre Miller (13.6 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 6.7 apg in 36.4 minutes)
SF Corey Maggette (16.8 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 1.9 apg in 31.3 minutes)
Change in team outlook: +4.3 ppg, -4.6 rpg, and +1.9 apg.

Houston trades: PF Maurice Taylor (8.4 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 1.0 apg in 20.6 minutes)
    C Kelvin Cato (4.5 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 0.3 apg in 17.1 minutes)
SG Cuttino Mobley (17.5 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 2.9 apg in 41.7 minutes)
PG Steve Francis (21.0 ppg, 6.2 rpg, 6.2 apg in 41.0 minutes)
PF Eddie Griffin (8.6 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 1.1 apg in 24.5 minutes)
Houston receives: PF Danny Fortson (3.5 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 0.7 apg in 17 games)
PG Gilbert Arenas (18.3 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 6.3 apg in 82 games)
PF Chris Wilcox (3.7 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 0.5 apg in 46 games)
    C Wang Zhizhi (4.4 ppg, 1.9 rpg, 0.3 apg in 41 games)
SF Kevin Garnett (23.0 ppg, 13.4 rpg, 6.0 apg in 82 games)
Change in team outlook: -7.1 ppg, +0.8 rpg, and +2.3 apg.

L.A. Clippers trades: PF Elton Brand (18.5 ppg, 11.3 rpg, 2.5 apg in 39.6 minutes)
SF Lamar Odom (14.6 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 3.6 apg in 34.3 minutes)
PG Andre Miller (13.6 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 6.7 apg in 36.4 minutes)
SF Corey Maggette (16.8 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 1.9 apg in 31.3 minutes)
PF Chris Wilcox (3.7 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 0.5 apg in 10.4 minutes)
    C Wang Zhizhi (4.4 ppg, 1.9 rpg, 0.3 apg in 10.1 minutes)
L.A. Clippers receives: SG Jason Richardson (15.6 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 3.0 apg in 82 games)
PF Troy Murphy (11.7 ppg, 10.2 rpg, 1.3 apg in 79 games)
SG Cuttino Mobley (17.5 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 2.9 apg in 73 games)
PF Eddie Griffin (8.6 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 1.1 apg in 77 games)
PG Troy Hudson (14.2 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 5.7 apg in 79 games)
Change in team outlook: -4.0 ppg, -3.9 rpg, and -1.5 apg.

Minnesota trades: SF Kevin Garnett (23.0 ppg, 13.4 rpg, 6.0 apg in 40.5 minutes)
PG Troy Hudson (14.2 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 5.7 apg in 32.9 minutes)
Minnesota receives: C Kelvin Cato (4.5 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 0.3 apg in 73 games)
PG Steve Francis (21.0 ppg, 6.2 rpg, 6.2 apg in 81 games)
PF Elton Brand (18.5 ppg, 11.3 rpg, 2.5 apg in 62 games)
Change in team outlook: +6.8 ppg, +7.7 rpg, and -2.7 apg.

Clippers get similar talent that put up similar numbers for players that are locked up with small contracts. Rockets get Garnett who will be phenomenal with Arenas. Wolves get a starting competitive team that put up more numbers in points and rebounds then the original team. SF and Brand will be great there. G.S. lose two pf for one pf and a swingman which they need.

Progected line up and point, assist, rebound distribution:

    Rockets:
    Arenas 16ppg 7apg 3rpg
    Posey 14ppg 4apg 5rpg
    Garnett 25ppg 5apg 11rpg
    Fortson 6ppg 2apg 9rpg
    Ming 18ppg 3apg 10rpg

This line up improves our rebounding a lot. Ming will get more shots and will help our lost of ppg there. Arenas is a better "pg" than Francis is. This is one crazy rebounding team that has many scoring options.

    Timberwolves:
    Francis 21ppg 6apg 5rpg
    Wally 17ppg 4apg 4rpg
    Smith 8ppg 2apg 6rpg
    Brand 22ppg 3apg 10rpg
    Cato 7ppg 1apg 8rpg

Francis and Brand more than compensate for Hudson and Garnett. Cato adds more rebounds. This team is a lot better than the original team.

    Warriors:
    Miller 15ppg 8apg 3rpg
    Maggette 16ppg 3apg 4rpg
    Odom 14ppg 5apg 6rpg
    Jamison 20ppg 4apg 8rpg
    Foyle 10ppg 1apg 7rpg

The best rebounding team in the league lost some rebounding presence. But rebounding is useless without players to put the ball in the basket. Enter Miller Maggette and Odom who can all score with ease. This is a more high scoring team then the original with Taylor to come off the bench for a spark in points.

    Clippers:
    Hudson 14ppg 7apg 3rpg
    Mobley 18ppg 3apg 3rpg
    Murphy 15ppg 2apg 10rpg
    Richardson 17ppg 5apg 4rpg
    Ely/Griffen 9ppg 2apg 8rpg

This team is young. This team is talented. This team is completely on either rookie contracts or small contracts. They unload 3 potentially max contracts. In return they get a Murphy Griffen combo to make up for Brand. They get Hudson to make up for Miller. Mobley and Richardson can easily make up for the lost of Odom.
