I made the addition to my tread because I realized that some people where not smart enough to realize what I was saying.

I also like the idea of going after Martin. The problem is, the Nets want to get rid of Kittles to free up enough space to re-sign Martin themselves. No way they'll do a S&T for him. Still, I hope the Rockets are aggressive enough to make an offer.

NETS MIGHT LET KIDD OR MARTIN GO

The New Jersey Nets will have to break up the trio of Jason Kidd, Richard Jefferson and Kenyon Martin if they can't find a different way to cut payroll, according to the New York Post.

According to the newspaper, the best way to avoid such a scenario would be to find a team willing to trade for Kerry Kittles' $10 million salary.

Concerning the issue of keeping The Big Three intact, Nets' GM Rod Thorn reportedly said: "I can't put a percentage on it. Obviously, we'll do everything to keep our team as competitive as we possibly can."

In a potential trade for Kittles, the Nets' reported hope would be to get two or three players to help strengthen the team's bench.

However, if a trade doesn't happen the Nets are left with alternatives which include trading Kidd to match whatever Martin might get in free agency, or letting K-Mart leave as a free agent.

"We want to keep him. I'm hopeful," Thorn said of Martin. "I'm sure I'll continue to have conversations regarding a lot of different players, but as far as shopping people or as far as we're going to do this or that, I'm not sure what we're going to do right now."

Thorn went on to essentially confirm Kidd will have surgery on his left knee, which caused him to miss 15 games during the past season.

It is believed Kidd will have the operation July 1.

doesn't mean the rockets can come close to affording them. They've got a 5 million mid level exception and a 6.9 million trade exception. And they've got no one to trade of any value. Not gonna happen, ever
