Oh by amp up his game you mean rip his jersey to the side and scream while he makes a dunk OOOOOOOOOOO. I'm talking about the same guy who trashed and chased a teammate off the team cause he played piss poor in the finals and then disappeared in his next finals. What a great leader.
Well, he scores more points at a better percentage and grabs more rebounds, etc...and his team gets to the finals. I'd call that stepping up. You can call it whatever you want.
Sorry I missed it, the scroll page sure goes fast these days. The only way it would be remotely plausible for NY is them taking Howard--even then it is a very one-sided trade for us except for NJ saving like 5 mil per year. But maybe them saving that 5 mil plus a draft pick or two they could live with. Well put SamFisher & Smeg. Kmart is not the most gifted offensive player but he brings it with defense, hustle, and toughness. As far as not bringing it when it counts, he has only put up 19 & 11 in the playoffs over the last 2 years instead of 17 & 9 like his regular seasons.
Apparently we can't stack the TE onto another trade because it is already part of a previous trade. We have to use all/part of it to sign a player, like the MLE. I am not sure if we can use to sign multiple players, though, if their combined salary is under the 6.9 mil.
Rudyball: "Apparently we can't stack the TE onto another trade because it is already part of a previous trade. We have to use all/part of it to sign a player, like the MLE. I thought the whole point was that we could use it to trade a lower priced player for a higher priced player.
I don't think so, I think it was clarified you can use it with another player with a little accounting tricks. What you can't use is the trade exemption and players salary AND the typical 15% margin of error to complete the deal. So in practice you can take Howard's salary dollar for dollar and up the the maximum value for your trade exemption to take on a higher paid player. I think that Howard + TE is upwards of 11+ mil. http://bbs.clutchcity.net/newreply.php?s=&action=newreply&threadid=79430 Never mind, in rereading above I think you were right. We can't get an 11 mil player with the TE + Howard. It would get a lot more complicated. About the best we could do is Mo & Boki OR Howard & Pike + picks for KMart (starting at like the low 10mil) and use the TE to eat the contracts of their choice up to 6.9 mil (Zo, Rogers, AW?). Yeah, I don't see it, that Kittle's contract is really the killer to them and we can't help them if we wanted to.
I would just like to say at this point how proud I am that nobody has yet taken this thread to the usual destination: "...and let's trade Boki for Garnett, and let's trade Wilkes for Shaq!" "...and let's trade Keith Jones for Jordan!" "...next year's starting five: SF - Garnett PF - Yao C - Shaq SG - TMac PG - The Lord God Can you say 'Dynasty'?"
Truth is -- I hope Rox take advantage of new Rat-ner regime. Fleece the Nets by accepting their players by being willing to pay.
dconover is quite possibly the worst poster I've ever seen on here....and that counts me back in the daily poll era.. No more stars...if you really think talent doesn't win like your sig says then why would we go for K-Mart...
I think that NJ would rather have MoTaylor (younger and I believe a smaller/shorter contract) than Howard... which is fine with me. If we could swing a deal to land KMart (and perhaps Kittles as well)... they would be a great compliment to Yao and TMac. Rotation if this happens with comments: Yao - what can be said? KMart - hustle defense, emotion, strong, better offense that Cato Howard - an older version of KMart with a better jump shot JJ - solid, solid player for us last year. Good defender. TMac - what can be said? Kittles - offense and hustle off of the bench. Better than Pike? Back up center? Foyle Point and back up point? BB, Fisher, Ward This is a team that could work it's way deep into the playoffs next year. And other than Howard and JJ... a young team.
Thanks for your two months worth of obeservations. That is a really long time. We value your personal opinions.
hmmm small problem bro....thats a year and two months...and either way it doesn't take long to figure out that you have added nothing intelligent to this BBS.
It is pretty near impossible to match up with KM and Kittles salaries once this current trade goes through. If they want Mo over Howard, the best we can do is Mo, Boki, and some #1s for KM plus eating up to 7 million of their contracts (Zo, AW, RR). Kittles is out of play at like 10 million. I would be incredibly pissed as a Nets fan if they pulled something like that. How would you feel if at the beginning of this offseason you were told we would trade Francis for Kittles just to lose a contract like Spoon's, Mo's or Cato's.
I like how you changed your sig after i called you on it.......... but anyways...I dont think Kmart and Kittles would make this team any better. Too Much ego between the two
Eh, the stuff suggested in this thread sounds alright, but here's MY vision for the team next year: Even though the TE can't be used combined with players in a trade for a max-contract guy, let's assume the NBA will ignore that rule just for us, and trade Taylor and the exception for Duncan. They get a guy six months younger in Taylor, so of course the Spurs would do it. Then, we can trade A. Griffin for Kirilenko, since I hear the Jazz are nervous about the guy leaving in 3 years because he doesn't like mormons or something. It works on RealGM, so it's all good. Next, we sign Jesus to play the point, as he's very unselfish, and since Jesus is on everyone's team, we have his Bird rights. Finally, to replace Cato, we raise Wilt Chamberlain from the dead and give him the mid-level exception. Heck, he played back in the day, so that would sound like a max deal to him. These moves would leave us with: Jesus, Wilks, Spanoulis McGrady, Gaines Kirilenko, Jackson, Boki Duncan, Weatherspoon, Padgett Yao, Chamberlain's corpse I like it. What do you guys think?
Two of my favorite PF (2nd tier, i.e. those PFs w/out MVP status)... KMart or Brand are great pickups for our PF postion. Both can rebound, play D, and shoot the mid-range jumper. I'd grab them in a heart beat. If we could. Not sure if we can contract wise. GATER? P.S. Every team needs an enforcer! Imagine Kmart and Amare going at it! Yowza!
I'd think we have a better chance of getting Kidd than K-Mart. I think they're going to keep K-Mart long term on account of his age and deal Kidd for whoever approaching market value ala T-Mac.
If this T-Mac thing actually happens, then we just need to make some simple moves: MoT to Boston for Chris Mihm and Yogi Stewart. McDyess with half the MLE. TE for Eric Snow. Yao/Mihm/Yogi McDyess/Howard/Spoon JJ/Boki/AG T-Mac/Pike Eric Snow/Gaines or Lue Sounds good. When the hell is this T-Mac thing going to happen so I can start with the new wave of trade threads?
