    In 1969 when the UH Cougars upset UCLA in a regular season game that's how they defended Elvin Hayes in practice all week to get him used to shooting over Alcindor's (Abdul-Jabbar's) length.

    That preparation plus Alcindor's scratched eyeball enabled UH to upset them but UCLA later trounced them in the NCAA tourney.

    Seems like I heard a few years ago that some team was practicing 5 on 6 to simulate the great defensive pressure that some upcoming opponent brought to the table.
