There is an old adage about multiple cooks and broth for a reason. If everybody can get along, perhaps it will go according to plan. If not...it could be a problem.
yeah but major has never called plays in his life. hes always just been a co-offensive coordinator. I think they're playing it out just perfectly
Co-coordinators are fairly routine at a lot of schools. You just don't hear about it because the one with the playcalling designation (Harsin, in this case) is largely considered the guy by fans and media. For example, when Gene Chizik and Greg Robinson were known as defensive coordinators in the VY years (and each parlayed that into head coaching jobs), they were actually "co" coordinators with Duane Akina. It's nothing out of the ordinary, a lot of schools structure it this way. As long as you have a set guy to actually call the play and make the final decision, it doesn't hurt (and in fact, could help) to have more guys in the strategy sessions.
Major was not offered the head coaching position at Rice. I'm not sure where you got that information, but I know he was not.
"co-coordinator" = titular promotion = excuse to give him a raise. Duane Akina has been "co-defensive coordinator" and now "assistant head coach - defense" for about 7 years now.
yeah, i'm sure he thinks it's hilarious ut got the oc from the team that beat them a couple seasons ago in the fiesta bowl.
Is that the latest report from Recruitocosm? If you play nice, you can borrow my subscription to 247.
delusional. btw, i enjoyed going to a game at rice stadium this season with over 40k people in attendance. too bad it was a high school game that eclipsed the season attendance for rice.
Still bitter we stole your alma mater's (Texas State.....NOT UT-Austin branch) head coach? Talk to me when your team moves up from FCS, brah TIA
Reports are flying from all directions saying he is the man. This might be the best hire of UT's entire offseason. Incredible.
