You think perhaps the picture may have something to do with it? Just a thought. :)

Seriously, I can't really talk. I've got some GOD AWFUL pics of me from my early playing days floating around that I pray to the Lord above will never see the light of day. Ironically, many of them involve playing in a country band...

Well, the thread was picking up steam BEFORE the pic. Maybe Batman had never saw my previous posts on it.

Just did a search with "Fatty" and "singer" and saw I've talked about it a few times before:

    4-17-09
    8-5-06
    12-24-05
    10-8-05
    8-20-05
    7-14-05
    5-26-05
    2-7-05
    8-22-04
    3-11-03

All are easy enough to find.

I'm pretty sure the initial reaction is because "sidelining as a country singer" was a non sequitur in your original post; it seemingly had nothing/little to do with the meat of your story, your then-dissatisfaction with Houston's congressional representation.

Kind of like me saying in the Gates/cop/Obama thread [part of this statement doesn't belong]: "Yeah, back in 1992, the week after I was simultaneously orally serviced by the members of Wilson Phillips, I remember being upset when I saw Reginald Denny getting that brick smashed over his head on television. 'Can't we all just get along?'"

Can't we all just get along?

LOL! Yes, that makes more sense.

What can I say? I have a very vivid recollection of that day for some reason. I can still picture it.

Good ole Fatty - who else do we know on this board that is a graduate of Texas Tech, had his class ring stolen, been banned multiple times, posts a weekly drunken thread (usually on the weekend but I think it has been awhile), has admitted to driving drunk, claims he is "awesome", has accused moes of lying about his age, thought that Desert_Rocket was New Yorker, is probably the #1 fast food fan around, loves AC/DC more than any other band in music, and has "sidelined" as a country singer?

I am guessing that there is no one else.

Agreed. The random non sequitur is definitely part of it, as well as the picture.

Kind of like someone saying "hey guys, where is the best place to park for an Astros game? My girlfriend, who used to be a man, is coming in town for the weekend and really wants to catch a game. TIA."

What's the point of posting his picture again? What is the goal here...?

The larger question would be why did he save it to his computer...

It was indeed the non sequitur that tickled me so. Also Fatty is just probably the funniest poster on the board, though it is mostly unintentional. One of my favorite things is the way he takes a fancy to a new phrase and then uses it in every post for months. Like the way he used to start every sentence with "Hell..." As in, "Hell, back when I sidelined as a country singer..." Or "to be fair," as in "To be fair, back when I sidelined as a country singer..."

Fatty: I remember you posting about your singing career. How could I forget?? It never gets old, though.

AWESOME pic, by the way. Thank you for sharing it.

Next cf.net get together should totally be a karaoke thing. Hell, I would love to see Fatty rock the house.

The best part to me is the black cowboy hat.

You look like you just came back from playing "cattle rustler #2" on Bonanza.

Are you sure it's not the black leather vest over a t-shirt?

I definitely remember Fatty talking about this and while a bit funny just because anything involving Fatty usually is, I just thought it was kind of cool and different than the most of us just being the office drones we are.

But then you had to post that picture. The perfectly shaped beard, the matching hat and vest. I'm laughing like the coaches and principal in Porky's.

If we can write a song called "Sidelinin', will Jeff have Fatty over to record it in his studio?
