This type of inflammatory and open hatred goes well beyond the category of legitimate protest. These types of acts constitute an attempt at deliberate intimidation, provocation, and invasion of the grieving families' privacy. As such, the government has the responsibility to step in and protect the grieving families' rights. This can be done in a way that doesn't interfere with free speech. There are limits, for example, on what the KKK is allowed to do at their gatherings these days. Marching is OK, but I'm pretty sure they can't burn crosses in front of people's houses anymore. So if there are laws in Iowa, for example, that are restricting these fanatics' ability to display such hatred, I'm OK with that...they're still perfectly free to organize whatever marches or protests they feel like, outside of the context of a private funeral. I'm guessing the ACLU may disagree. Oh well.
Don't you think they could protest at some other place or time? If someone was protesting at the funeral of one of my family members, I would probably kick their ass.
They should be kept to the entrance of the cemetery, and away from the grieving family members. Yes, they have a constitutional right to protest, but those families have a right to grieve without such slime disrupting the funeral, and making such a sad occasion a sick and twisted carnival of crap. Sorry, but I've seen these people on CNN. If you've been around long enough, you end up going to too many funerals. The idea anyone would do this is sick. If they did it at a funeral of a close family member or friend of mine, I have no doubt that someone would end up being arrested... probably me, and hopefully them. I would take my chances with a jury, but it should never be allowed to come to that. Keep D&D Civil.
sadly, this really doesn't surprise me. there are complete morons out there who twist and pervert the word of God to fit their personal/political agenda. and through their message where they act AS the word of god they are committing sins themselves like not loving thy neighbor as themselves, judging others where only God can judge the living and the dead, interpretting God's will, etc. and if these jackasses showed up to a funeral of a loved one, i can't guarantee that i wouldn't committ a sin myself in beating their asses senseless. how dare they protest at the expense of someone greiving over a loss of a loved one? they think God would approve of such hate and lack of compassion? these people are insane.
Yeah...This is one of those things where it's "good for the country" but sucks hardcore for the mourners. Everyone is allowed free speech and they're within their legal limits. It's tasteless, but we'd be worse off if more like them were driven underground.
It's easy to find fruit cakes. Gimme a couple hours and I'll find someone equally stupid and misguided. The real story here is that Fox put this woman on TV for the single purpose of yelling at here. Am I supposed to believe that Hannity and Colmes were really upset at her? Their feigned disgust was so transparent and pathetic it is almost laughable. How can you really get upset at someone with a 70 IQ? This woman is probably suffering from some kind of mental illness in addition to her other obvious problems. This wasn't news, editorial, interesting, or of any significance. Stop watching cable news before your brain rots.
I got that feeling too. I don't watch Hannity and Colmes so I don't know if this is what they usually do but this seemed to me more like putting up a prop piece for them to show how outraged they can be rather than a serious interview. The fact that they wouldn't let her complete a sentence shows they had no interest in the story.
