I know this is indiferent to what BimaT and others suggest. But that statement is not absolutely true. As of the end of January the league attendance was down only 1.3%. Even if you said revenue was down 2% that would only bring the cap to about 56 mil if the Rockets rescind their rights to Scola Lowry and Hayes they would be a little over 40 mil in salary and about mil in cap space. That's plenty enough to sign Bosh. So you have to ask yourself would you drop Scola Lowry and Hayes for Bosh. For me that's a no-brainer.

I know I am not mentioning our first round pick but if we are not in the lottery their should be enough money for him too. Worst case is we have to drop Dorsey too or trade the pick but again for Bosh I would.

And this doesn't even include the likeihood that we do a sign and trade with Toronto. we could give up Landry and sign Lowry etc, etc., and so on...

Suffice it to say that there are possibilities out there if the salary doesn't nosedive and their are indications it may not... at least not as much as some suggest.

It appears there are only 2 teams competing for his services: NY and Chicago. That of course unless Morey has something unmentioned planned.

I wish Landlord Landry's photochop is real. Well we can only dream. If we can get Bosh and yao is back at full strength. With our deep bench and add in another supporting star in the off season then we are back to being contenders.

The knicks trade is definitely long term. Getting Jeffries kills our chances at any free agent in the summer and even if yao is at full strength we will be middle of the pack. Hill might be interesting and the draft picks might turn out to be something useful but that is years from now and Yao will be on the decline. If we are in the win now mode the Knicks trade is horrible and yao will probably bolt for LA or something as a FA.

It's still possible to have the money withoutu Jeffries. For example, trade Scola for cap space and young talent/picks, trade Batter for cap space if there is any taker etc.
