I think if they retire due to injury they still get paid. However if they retire by choice they leave it on the table. If it wasn't, nobody can preven these guys from playing hard till they get that 20 mill then retire.
you cant manage a whole 15 year career without fouling.... i remember him fouling alot thats not true. im gonna miss his attitude and passion... he was a great entertaining guy to watch
False. Sheed never fouled. I didn't like him much during his Portland years, but he won me over with Detroit. Heck everyone on that championship roster should have their numbers retired for beating a Lakers team with Kobe, Fox, and Malone. Yuck.
Kobe, Fox, and Malone were the most hated players on that team for me. I'm not talking about talent wise, just most hated. Watching those guys fail and walk out of the arena with their heads down was priceless.
I will believe it when training camp starts and he is not there...until then, emotions may be getting the better of him. Brett Favrish...imo. DD
I've always thought Sheed could always play for another 10 years. All he does is camp on the 3 point line.
Those sneaky Celtics are trying to trade Him and steal a Big. They are trying to trade his contract for Chandler, Murphy or Biedrins. This might work.
Been gone for awhile, but I'm back now. Lying here in my hospital bed, I must say that I am sad to see Sheed go out, although he is obviously not the player he once was. I for one think that if Sheed had a bigger desire to be The Man rather than just being one of the guys, that he could've been the greatest power forward of all time. Although he didn't use it often, he had an incredible post up game, could defend & block shots, rebound well & we know he could knock down the 3 pt. shot. But he always wanted to make the right basketball play, and I for one, appreciate those guys more than the ones with the otherwordly scoring numbers. I believe the attitude cost him a lot, especially in Portland, but I am kinda bummed that he is leaving the game now. But I am glad that he did win a ring and had Boston won this year and that Portland team not blown that 15 pt 4th qtr lead against LA, or had Detroit beat San Antonio, we would be talking about a possible 4 time champion and we would be calling Rasheed Wallace, & not Tim Duncan, the greatest power forward of all time. Thanks for the memories Sheed.
Cry if you must, but from a pure talent standpoint, over the the last 15 years, Sheed was more talented than Duncan or KG but the way he played the game was in a manner completely different than the way TD & KG did. You may not agree & that's cool, but I stand by what I said.
