I honestly don't think so. At least not in 2008. Boston was just too good. Either way, I don't cry about that team being broken up due to injury. Now the original twin towers...
That looks like an awesome team. Its so much easier to see how much bigger Yao is compared to other bballers. Thanks for sharing.
Ron wasn't here in 2008, it was 2009 that the team got to the 2nd round and took the Lakers to 7 games. A healthy Yao and Mutombo could have been enough to get us past the Lakers and Nuggets, and we would've had a pretty good shot against Orlando.
*sniff* Replace Rafer with Lowry and give T-Mac and Yao their health back and that's a team that could win a title.
Those Ron pictures are cool... but on the bottom right is a link to some old Dale Earnhardt pictures which are fuking badass Obviously with a healthy Yao and Mutombo Houston would have won that series. If Mutombo hadn't been hurt v Portland, Yao might not have been hurt V LA. Water under the bridge. I think everyone agrees that Houston could have won that series but they didn't. I'm in Asia atm and over here when ultimate outcomes hinge on one or two small things that could have gone either way they accept it saying "it was their fate." It was Houston's fate to go out that year when they did. Just like it was Mutombo and Yao's fate to end their careers doing what they could for their team that year.
I was about to get depressed looking at that first picture - the championship team that could have been - but then I remembered that they made it to the second round of the playoffs and pushed the Lakers to 7 Games. That was an excellent season.
Oh what could have been... ...but still, no Rafer and no McGrady and still one hell of a fun season. If Ron-Ron had been seeing his shrink like he did last season with the Lakers, I have zero doubt we would have been Western Conference Champs, even without Yao. (Remember he scored like 9 points in Game 7 of the semifinals) Seems like eons ago
