As I said before in this thread, Bonzi was playing for his next contract last year too. He wanted to opt out this year and get a better deal but he couldn't put the doughnuts down and get in shape to earn a better contract offer from someone else. Instead, Bonzi had to take the same amount of pay this year that he was pissed off about taking last year.

That has to be the most tired, overused and worn out phrase to describe Bonzi ever. Even if he has a decent year, no team will break the bank for an old, slow and relatively unathletic headcase.

You are entitled to your opinion. Bonzi is a 13/5 guy. End of story. If you want to say he is atypical because he scores in bunches, that just proves he has been inconsistent. I don't really care to dissect in detail what he did when younger because it's irrelevant to the 2007/08 Rockets. One comment I'll make is points per minute is one of the most useless stats in NBA basketball. There is a reason he's only averaged 26 mins/game over his career. Saying he would average 18 pts/game if he had played 36 mins/game is silly and inaccurate.

Right now, he is an old, slow unathletic headcase who has done nothing remarkable in his career except for a 6 game playoff series that nobody can forget. If he makes a solid contribution to the Rockets next season playing behind Tracy and Shane, great. I hope so. But I don't think it's logical to pin high hopes on this guy. There are many scorers on this team and Bonzi may find things are crowded.

I read somewhere that Odom still hasn't fully recovered from his injury and will miss part of training camp. He's been injury prone and is currently damaged goods. If it's between the Lakers, Jazz and Rockets, I'd put us in 2nd place behind the Jazz. LO's trade value is really low right now. There's a reason the Pacers didn't want him as part of trading JO.

Bonzi is a fat, lazy, unmotivated headcase. I would never argue that. But he is also way better than you say he is when he is actually trying.

Last comment: OK, then he's had consistency and/or motivation problems his entire career, which is why he's so unaccomplished. Here's to Bonzi breaking out of his old mold and helping us win a championship!
