He's too short to play the 2, but doesn't have the smarts to play the 1.

I love his heart, but I don't think he would improve this team.

I don't think y'all remember how frustrating it was when he was here.

actually, he's only averaging 2 per game in 26 minutes. i'd expect him to play a little less than that if he came here. so the turn over's aren't really a problem.

niether is the shooting by the way. he's shooting better than rafer from 3 and overall from the field. he's almost flawless at the FT line as well.

steve was a knucklehead, but he has matured his personality and his game. in reduced minutes and a reduced role (so he doesn't try to do too much), he would be great to have.

With T-Mac on the floor, much of the PG duties would be shared.

JVG does like Rafer's AST/TO ratio, which for Steve was never great. But as I mentioned, Steve does take it to the basket.

Watching Rafer's teardrop (missed) shot because he's too slight to take a hit is at least as maddening as Stevie committing a turnover.

he wouldn't be running the team this time around.

he wouldn't be the #1 option.

he wouldn't think that he's got more pull than the coach.
    ----------------------

even subbing for rafer, steve wouldn't have to handle the point thanks to tmac. he could focus on getting open and taking it to the hoop strong. he would be great at getting the other team in foul trouble and making them pay with 92% from the FT line this season.

If he can control his dribbling, he would be a great asset off the bench.

It would be awesome to get him as a bargain. I have no problem having him as a scorer off the bench, but I don't want him to take control of the game.

That is Yao and T-Mac's job.

If SF can bring 80% of his game back, I can't even imagine how insane our second squad would be. SF + Bonzi would be our second combo. Plus, it makes the Magic look like idiots. Further plus if we beat them in the finals  .

I wonder how Yao'll take getting his old partner back though...

Francis just needs to learn to pass the ball. If the dribbling is controlled and the passing increases, he would be a HUGE threat on our 2nd squad.

Yeah. I didn't mean it in a negative way. I'm just interested as to how Yao will adjust to having Steve back in the team. Steve used to lead Yao all around, but it'll be the opposite this time.

I'm guessing yall never got to see Steve Francis play with the Knicks this year? He looked like a whole different player. He wasn't doing all that "dribble, dribble, dribble". He was moving the ball around, setting up his teammates and cutting/slashing through the lanes. Now remember, he's was doing this all the KNICKS. If he was able to play role player on that Knicks team, he's going to have no problem deferring to Yao and T-Mac. IMO, grabbing a player like Steve Francis for the vet's minimum is down right robbery.

The Rockets should jump all over signing Francis if the Knicks cut him.

Remember this offseason CD and Morey said they wanted him back but couldn't make salaries match.

Anyways they should definitely get him if he gets the buyout, and Rockets fans saying otherwise make no sense to me.

Normally I would love to have the guy back. Why the hell not? But I saw something on Fox Sports about him and he continued to trash Van Gundy. Its obvious the players buy into his system and its winning us games. If he cant get on the same page then the hell with him. When I heard him say something along the effect of; "I put fans in the seats in Houston" I got sick. His biggest accomplishment? Top 10 in TOpg in NBA history... If he has matured then bring it on. If he still thinks he is better than he is then let him rot. Gosh. I ALWAYS loved and supported the guy. But that attitude made me sick.

THe real reason why SF3 back makes sense is now he will be an ex-Knick and that would fit hand in glove with JVG!!!!!!!!!! :D

sf is a good player he was a top 10 talent 3 yrs ago and im almost sure he could get us 18-20 point being third option. tmac is the playmaker on this team not rafer so steve woukd really only have to bring the ball up court and then let tmac set everyone else up and just hit steve on a cut and have him iso when the time is right he can finish with best of them and he draws alot of fouls, im almost sure that if this does happen he would be starting after 10 games with the team mark my word i really want him bak c'mon cd make this happen we would be instantly be contender and i fits the win now attitude

I would take him over Chucky Atkins, I 'd say bring him in. Imagine how stacked we'd be. We could play the Alston/Tmac line and the Stevie/Yao line.

I'd like to see Francis back, as long as he realized that he is no longer the #1 option on offense and that he would have a reserved role. I'm sure being on losing teams like the Magic and Knicks has changed his outlook on winning. If he came to the Rockets and accepted his role, with his talent the Rockets would be stacked deep and be more of a threat than they already are for the playoffs.

When did he trash JVG? From everything I heard between them, Steve always had good things to say about JVG and never had a problem with his coaching. Same way with Jeff, they always had good things to say about each other.
