somebody never watched saturday night live...

his system requires all players to be able to make sharp, quick passes, move w/out the ball and play smart - none of which are steve-o's strengths.

Anyone can move without the ball. It's just learning new plays and a new offense. If you have ever played organized B-Ball with different coaches, they all like to do things a little differently. What coaches can't stand and neither can teammates is players the hog the ball, don't look to pass off when someone is open and try to score all the points. This..is what Francis must not do. If he can get past that and throw the ball to his teammates, then Stevio will be a force with the Rockets.

yeah, and the knicks went 1-3 in the last 4 games and steve-o had 13 turnovers to 16 assists.

in 10 years steve-o has never shown an ability or a willingness to do so.

you just described steve-o in a nutshell.

but this is what he is, which takes me back to my original point. why do so many of you think the guy has changed? because he says he has?

Tell me, why did orlando not want him? Why did the knicks not want him? Why did portland pay him 30/33 million just to go away? Maybe those organizations don't know much about francis and people on a messageboard know more than them.

Two perennial All stars, a bench, and two-three other guards who can take his place if it turns into a SF showboat highlight reel instead of team play. We don't have to play him to be successful!!

Plus he will be playing for his last contract run.

In his 10 years what offensive system was he in that required him to do so? Definately not his time in Houston (iso ball).

What part of what he is isn't worth $2M a season? Most of the criticism here doesn't seem to consider the low risk and what we are looking for him to do (be a 3rd option at best).

i didnt realize that ability to move w/out the ball was only conducive to certian systems. seems like a fundamental skill to me.

i have repeatedly stated in this thread that he is a bargain that the rockets could not pass. my main point is that many here are drastically overstating what he will bring. when people are saying that francis is the guy who will put us over the hump and bring a championship (how about getting out of the first round for starters?) i have a hard time buying it. i think too many people are expecting the steve of 5 years ago. again, for the money he will end up being one of the best bargains in the league, but i dont see him as a good fit here unless he is willing to put his ego 2nd to the team (which he has never done). if he can be content giving 20-24 energizing minutes a game and not being the first option than it might work, but history hasnt shown to me that he will be happy w/ that kind of roll.

I'm a big Steve Francis Fan and could not wait for his return
I am a HUGE Rockets Fan . . since I knew what a basketball was

I think Steve gets a very raw deal and a bunch of Skewed Opinions
so . . I have to act like the counterweight
their are so many 'haters' and only one me. . so I have to work over time :)
I know Steve has it in him
and he will do INCREDIBLY THIS YEAR!

IMO the Rockets were a Western Conference Championship team last year
    they lack heart and Coaching

This is a CHAMPIONSHIP CALIBER TEAM

Only things that will stop it is
COACHING, HEART and BAD LUCK [or sh*tty Reffs]

Steve Francis and Bonzi will be our 3 and 4 highest scorers
and will be ABSOLUTELY AMAZING this year
DAZZLING AT TIMEs. . just good at others

You will see something in the Rockets come playoff time you have not seen since 94
CONFIDENCE . . . DETERMINATION . . and FRICKING FROTHING FROM THE MOUTH ANGER!!!

NBA CHAMPIONS . .. BELEIVE IT!!!

No . .. we probably won't be the #1 seed. . .at the start of the playoffs
but . . we gonna eat alot of folx's lunch in the playoffs

    SOF . . no . . But I am a Fan of his

WHEW!!!! I am so PUMPED for the Season

i hope you are right. i want the rockets to do well (even if it means steve does well too :p ). i was pissed when jvg got fired, but i am coming around to the idea that it was for the best and yao and t-mac are more suited for adlemans offense and overall approach.

and saying i want steve to miss shots to reinforce my 'hater-ness" is the same as people saying opponents of the war want it to bad to make themselves? it is silliness.

Well you have to take the talent level into account. the knicks are hopeless with or without steve. as for the TO's, thats part of steve's game. he is allways trying to creat something, so those turnovers are gonna happen.

Hopefully here with a lesser role would mean less TO's.

Francis still has something left..he showed that when he got minutes last year. I could see him putting up 15 ppg, 4 rpg, 5 apg.

I like the way Morey is thinking. Other than Tmac, we didn't have anyone that could penetrate. Two things Steve was always great at: reboudning and penetrating. Francis can do what Alston can't....which is finish with authority in traffic. Steve will go to the hole strong and either score a bucket or get fouled.

As far as Adelman's system, who would know what fits his system better than Adelman himself. The fact is Adelman wanted Steve Francis and actively recruited him. If Adelman didn't think he would fit, he could easily have campaigned Morey against that move or not joined in the pitch to get Francis over here. He must see soemthing in Steve's game that he can work with. Ever since Adelman has been hired, we've acquired Brooks, James, and Francis.... Guys that are athletic and good scorers. We're obviously moving to be a faster, more athletic, and offensively more potent team.
