I voted yes, but I would imagine they publish multiple covers, just like they usually do for their college sports previews.

Thanks for sharing that. For those that don't know the cover above was for the entire nation with the exception of Houston and surrounding areas (which put the Rox on the regional cover).

Houston was not even on the SI radar. It was a total disrespect to the entire city of Houston and why I cancelled my subscription to SI. The Rockets cover was regional and IIRC actually came out after complaints (but I could be wrong about that).

I still remember going to the local convenience store to buy the issue after the Rox won and seeing Soccer on the cover - still to this day it reminds me of the Eddie Murphy movie "Coming to America" where the guy from ER says something to the effect of 'soccer not being a real game because they don't use their hands' - not that I necessarily agree with that, but it did add fuel to the fire.

To add insult to injury, I was in College Station (only about 90 miles NW of Houston) during game 5 of the NBA Finals when NBC decided that the OJ chase was more important that the Rox/Knicks game. I learned later that they split the screen in Houston and showed OJ on 1/2 and the Rox game on the other half, but I distinctly remember sitting in my driveway listening to Gene on my car's AM radio since NBC decided that it was more interesting to air the OJ chase on the full screen than the Rockets game.

To this day, I still resent the media for that.
