Im not sure that's totaly true. I think we didn't hear because we're not in Minnesota. I thought there were some rumblings and complaints about KG in Minnesota. And I'm pretty sure I've seen quotes where he wished for a better supporting cast. Also, I've do think he responded to critics. He just was never as tone deaf to how he sounded as T-Mac is.
To all the ones that says and/or believes one of the following: "When we get a healthy McGrady back..." "If TMac came back healthy..." "When TMac comes back and plays like normal..." What have you guys been watching? It's one thing to be a big fan of a player but it's another to be blinded by the fact that this guy will never be the same McGrady ever again...and that's even before this season began. He's never going to be 100% healthy, he's never going to be going "13 for 35" in the near future, and he's not going to be a BIG difference maker in any playoff series for the Rockets ever again. Wishing for a 100% healthy Tmac is like wishing that Malone never ever bearhugged Barkley--it ain't going to happen folks. The quicker that McGrady realizes that, when/if he comes back, he's going to be Option #2..at best (depending on what we do with Artest or if we make a move for another player). When he realizes that, he'll be an asset. Unfortunately, that probably won't happen.
To be fair, Garnett always deferred to his lesser players during playoff crunch time so he really didn't have any reason to complain about his supporting cast. Without Cassell and Spreewell, that MVP and that WCF appearance never would have happened.
this IS tmac's last chance. hopefully he takes his rehab to a T and comes back strong next yr. unfortunately, it won't be with the rockets. good luck to wherever he goes though.
McGrady is probably most likely staying. Some reasons why: 1. Rockets know hes in contract year and HE will rehab and might come back strong. 2. They can just let his contract expire and get the money from there. 3. Why would they trade him when he has no value at all? There ya go
Agree. My memory might be a little off, but my impression was that the seasons before the WCF he was criticised for doing to much on his own and he responded by saying he had to because he didn't have the help. That next season he deferred to those players and then was criticised for not being the MAN. I know Stefon fits in there somewhere, but can't remember when. Also, I think your T-mac analysis is spot on. I would add that the reason T-Mac's time in Houston is over is not because he never was a positive value to the team, as I think some argue, but because his cost now outweighs his value. I can't see how that equation does anything but change for the worse over time.
Funny. Shaq had Kobe or Wade, Pierce has KG, they don't need a "oh I didn't win because all my teams sucked for the last 12 years" crying baby. Average team, or average 20M liability? I think now it's safe to say next year TMac will leave. Or Yao.
Funny thing is Wades and Kobes center stepped up big for them. I can't say that for Yao especially him getting teared apart by Okur...
T-Lady will never be a leader, ever. Absolutely not a team leader and backstabbing Yao & teammates because he can see it is a better team now.
Right, Yao had a bad series. Is that enough excuse for your boy to cry out for his 12 years' failure?
TMAC the loser --------------------------------- "I haven't been the guy who's been fortunate enough to play with Shaq, to play with Tim Duncan. I always seem to have average teams,'' he said. "You take me back in my Orlando days with Shaq? Come on, there are no questions. You take a healthy me and switch me out with Paul Pierce [on the current Celtics]? There's no question. There's definitely no question.''

Come on, there are no questions. You take a healthy me and switch me out with Paul Pierce [on the current Celtics]? There's no question. There's definitely no question.'' the Rox owe Tmac nothing... for basically throwing the organization and the players under a bus.. like when a team trades a veteran player to a contending team... so he can get a shot at title... they should look out for themselves.. because Tmac would look out for himself only... 11 years has shown he will...... and just trade Tmac/contract to a team for the players they want... even if the team is a bottom dweller...
Another T-mac thread...C'mon people, let him rest. If indeed he will not be on this team anymore...fine. Let's see him 100% and when he does live up to his name then that's it. For now, let's give him time to recuperate.
In some ways, what T-mac said is true. He said if paired up with Shaq during his Orlando days, he would have.....He was in his prime back in those days. Except the first year, since traded to Houston, he was bothered by various injuries during the last 3 seasons. Besides a often-injured Yao, he had basically scrubs as teammates, David Westley, Juwan Howard, Chuck Hayes, Luther Head, just to name a few. Who among these guys are still playing a major role on an NBA team? Two stars (two injury prone stars in this case) alone can't win it in this league. That's why Jeff Van Gundy asked Les Alexander to go over the luxury tax to get some nice role players. Apparently that never happened. Last season, T-mac was already showing signs that he's no longer the same player. Then, this season...It's the owner who wasted T-mac's prime (first 3 years in Houston). At least he should shoulder some of the blame because he himself has such high respect for T-mac. Now that window of opportunity has closed and the T-mac era is over.
so now we're talking about efficiency? lol. and you conveniently omitted the fact that yao came back from a major injury. imagine mcgrady coming back from a broken leg... i see your knowledge of bball is fine, you're just hiding facts on purpose (which says something about your fandom).
Tmac won't even be a Rocket. When he comes back his expiring contract for 2010 will be too attractive not to trade away, not only that but other teams will feel he can help them out. If the Rockets keep him then it will be us looking to sign someone for 2010. Tmac's days as the 'Franchise' or 'Star' player are done. He probably needs to go to NYK with Lebron and Bosh so he doesn't have to complain about not having enough anymore...but if he does he has to take considerate less money so he'll probably go to some crap team for a pretty good deal and still be a bad selfish player.
Man, he should have bust his ass at least he can still jump, but he busted his knee that is why he can't play... I just noticed that everywhere TMac goes, his team always face a major setback (injuries)... When he was traded to Orlando, Grant Hill was injured... When he was traded to Houston, Bob Sura got injured, then Yao was injured for 3 consecutive years... And now, he is out for the season... I think that is just bad luck...
